The Hybrid Cloud Architect will lead the design, development, and implementation of Fervo’s global hybrid cloud environment supporting both IT and OT systems. This person will be responsible for infrastructure architecture, system integration, and lifecycle management across servers, virtualization, storage, compute, databases, and infrastructure data platforms.
The Hybrid Cloud Architect will define and execute strategies for secure, scalable, and automation-ready infrastructure to enable high availability and performance across Fervo’s enterprise and field operations.
This person will collaborate closely with the Network Architect, Cybersecurity, and End User Computing teams to ensure alignment across all technology domains.
Responsibilities
Design and evolve hybrid cloud landing zones, virtualization, and compute platforms
Architect storage, backup, and recovery solutions for resilience
Lead adoption of virtual desktops, serverless computing, and container platforms
Build infrastructure for data lakes and telemetry pipelines for observability and capacity planning
Drive automation with Infrastructure as Code ("Terraform, Ansible, Jenkins, GitOps")
Implement monitoring and observability with tools such as Azure Monitor, Zabbix, or PRTG
Partner with security teams to embed Zero Trust and compliance frameworks
Collaborate with innovation teams to support AI workloads and emerging technologies for plant operations and subsurface exploration.
Support IT and OT infrastructure for next-generation geothermal projects
Qualifications
10+ years in IT infrastructure architecture, with experience supporting IT services in OT environments
Demonstrated experience as a solutions architect
Deep expertise in virtualization, compute, storage, and hybrid cloud
Experience with VDI platforms ("Azure Virtual Desktop, VMware Horizon, Citrix, etc.")
Experience with Windows and Linux based enterprise environments
Strong background in active directory, databases, infrastructure data lakes, and serverless computing
Handson with IaC and automation platforms ("Terraform, Ansible, Jenkins, GitOps")
Familiarity with observability platforms (Azure Monitor, PRTG, or similar)
Experience with cloud cost management / FinOps
Excellent communicator who can bridge technical and business teams
Passion for learning and working with emerging technologies
Coding skills in PowerShell, Python, Terraform, and/or cloud native IaC
Nice to Have
Experience with Kubernetes, Docker, and container orchestration
Experience with HPC/GPU compute environments
Knowledge of MQTT, data historians, and subsurface data workflows
Familiarity with big data platforms (Hadoop, Spark, Delta Lake)
Handson with Nutanix, HyperV, ProxMox
Exposure to AI workloads, agentbased AI solutions, and supporting innovation teams
Certifications such as Azure Solutions Architect, AWS Solutions Architect, Certified Kubernetes Administrator (CKA), HashiCorp Terraform
