Northrop Grumman is seeking an Associate Tooling Engineer / Tooling Engineer.
This position will be located at our Space Systems Sector in San Diego, CA. The qualified candidate will become part of Northrop Grumman’s Payload and Ground Systems Division (PGSD). PGSD's Mission Enabling Products (MEP) Business Unit designs, builds and delivers space, defense and aviation-related systems to customers around the world. Roles and Responsibilities Create, prototype, design, and analyze tools and fixtures for manufacturing and testing of composite parts and assemblies. Develop and refine components and subsystems utilizing design skills, hand calculations, CAD modeling software and analytical tools. Perform detailed 3D designs. Generate 2D drawings and related documents. Participate and present in internal and external (customer) design reviews, including generation of presentation media for PDR, CDR, and MRR type reviews. Support manufacturing and test of fixtures and hardware as required. Aid in the generation of manufacturing and test plans. Support procurement of tooling and fixtures. Manage and track multiple priorities while maintaining a focus towards common project goals of the program team, matrix organization, and customers. Support continuous improvement of departmental tools and procedures. Ensure designs meet manufacturing and test plans, while maintaining targets for cost and schedule. Basic Qualifications: Be completing or has completed their degree (Bachelor’s, Master’s) from an accredited institution. Be majoring in or having majored in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or Structural Engineering. Be able to obtain a U.S. Government security clearance (U.S. citizenship is a pre-requisite). Experience with 3D modeling software. Experience performing analytical computations on structural components. Preferred Qualifications: Have an overall cumulative GPA of 3.00/4.0 or higher. Experience with or understanding of manufacturing processes and applications.
