Goals of the Packing Department The department's priority is to pack customer orders in a timely manner and to customer specifications. The crew ensures that material is the correct die, length, finish, and piece count in bundles, meets quality requirements, and fulfills shipment schedules. Daily quotas are set for each day, week, and month, and the team works to keep shipping available for scheduled shipments.
The Packing Supervisor Will
Supervise a crew of up to 30 employees on a specific shift, ensuring proper processes and safety protocols are followed.
Handle employee attendance challenges, employee conflict, and performance management.
Direct, train, coach, and develop hourly team members, including providing frequent constructive feedback, recognizing good performance, and addressing performance issues.
Ensure a safe work environment through education and training, promoting safety awareness and accountability, and identifying and addressing potential hazards.
Track and achieve productivity goals for the shift.
Report any safety incidents, accidents, or maintenance challenges to the appropriate contact.
Operate industrial equipment as needed and move or materials manually as required.
Comply with all company policies and ensure employees do the same.
Use computers as required and work a flexible schedule based on production needs.
Complete any administrative tasks as required.
Requirements of the Packing Supervisor
1–2 years of manufacturing experience is preferred.
Better-than-average math skills: reading die prints, understanding lengths and tolerances, and use of measuring tools.
Patient with proven people‑management skills.
Must be 18 years of age to work in the plant.
Must be able to work varying shifts if needed.
Be reliable and have good attendance.
Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing, and to understand basic English instructions.
Willingness to participate in all required job and employment‑related trainings, including safety and technical trainings.
Physical Requirements The position requires working in a factory environment with temperatures that can fluctuate from hot to cold and high noise levels. The employee will walk, bend, stoop, twist, turn, climb, push/pull frequently, move 50 lbs often and up to 100 lbs occasionally, and remain stationary or move about the factory as needed. Effective verbal and written communication is essential, and the employee must read, follow, and give written procedures to employees, with or without reasonable accommodations.
