ACCOUNTING CLERK

Reports to: Regional Director of Finance | Position: Non-exempt

THE ROLE

We seek a versatile team player for our Finance department. This role is a key advocate within the hotel Finance team, responsible for ensuring compliance with GAAP and the AHLA Uniform System of Accounts. The position guarantees accuracy and timeliness in deadline-driven tasks and acts as a partner to hotel operations regarding accounting processes, procedures, and practices. The Accounting Clerk reports to the Regional Director of Finance and collaborates with peers to uphold sound financial practices.

WHAT YOU WILL DO
  • Implement the company's Art + Science ideologies to promote translocal hospitality, intuitive service, and collaboration.
  • Participate in finance tasks such as invoice processing, journal entries, invoice reconciliation, night audit packet organization, report publishing, credit application processing, deposit management, event invoice handling, and responding to inquiries.
  • Uphold values fostering a respectful, diverse, equitable, and inclusive workplace.
  • Assist in executing accounting procedures, ensuring deadlines are met.
  • Collaborate with hotel departments to ensure efficient accounting activities.
  • Promote legal and financial compliance, including SOX and PCI standards, and adhere to hotel policies and applicable laws.
  • Oversee Accounts Payable processes, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance.
  • Communicate effectively with guests and vendors.
  • Maintain organized files and assist with office supplies and other tasks as needed.
WHAT YOU WILL NEED
  • A passion for community, place, and character.
  • An interest in accounting, numbers, and hotel environments.
  • At least two years of hospitality or accounting/finance experience, or equivalent education and experience.
  • Experience with bookkeeping or accounts payable.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel, Word, and Outlook.
  • Ability to work independently with integrity and confidentiality.
  • Organized, safe, and prudent work habits.
  • Strong communication skills in English.
  • Professional conduct reflecting hotel standards.
  • Experience with property management systems; Infor experience is a plus.
  • Ability to lift up to 30 lbs. and sit for extended periods.
  • Availability to work approximately 24 hours during weekdays, with flexibility for month-end tasks.
