Director - Center for Cybersecurity Education and Research/Computer Science Reporting to the Academic Division Chair, the Director oversees Computer Science academic programs and faculty while developing and expanding the Center for Cyber Security Education and Research.

Essential Job Functions

Coordinate with institutional and community stakeholders to plan and implement cybersecurity workshops, training opportunities, and bootcamps.

Assist in the maintenance of the cyberoperations program curriculum.

Assist in the application for and maintenance of special designation status for the cyberoperations program.

Ensure cybersecurity offerings align with current government and industry trends.

Communicate with other institutions, government, and industry for cybersecurity collaboration and funding opportunities.

Apply for and maintain cybersecurity related grants and revenue‑generating opportunities.

Oversee cybersecurity related research efforts.

Develop and execute curricular, extracurricular, and research opportunities to engage students.

Develop internship pipelines, career pathways, and applied learning opportunities for students.

Secure NSA CAE‑CD designation within three years.

Establish and maintain partnerships with government agencies (e.g., NSA, DHS), private industry, and other academic institutions.

Represent the Center in regional and national cybersecurity forums, consortia, and advisory boards.

Oversee virtual cybersecurity labs and simulations.

Support student success through mentorship, academic advising, and career readiness initiatives.

Facilitate faculty development in cybersecurity pedagogy and scholarship.

Manage the Center’s day‑to‑day operations, including staffing, budgeting, and reporting.

Supervision as assigned within the program.

Other duties as assigned.

Leadership And Management

Provide strategic direction and leadership to the academic department, aligning its goals with the institution’s overall mission and objectives.

Plan, organize, and manage departmental activities, including curriculum development, course scheduling, and faculty assignments.

Supervise and evaluate departmental faculty and staff, promoting professional development and ensuring high‑quality teaching and research.

Foster a collaborative and inclusive departmental culture, promoting teamwork, open communication, and a positive working environment.

Academic Program Oversight

Develop and review academic programs and courses, ensuring their alignment with industry standards and accreditation requirements.

Monitor and assess program outcomes and student learning to ensure continuous improvement and alignment with institutional goals.

Stay abreast of emerging trends and developments in the field, integrating them into the curriculum to ensure its relevance and currency.

Budget And Resource Management

Develop and manage the departmental budget, making strategic decisions to optimize resource allocation and maximize efficiency.

Identify and pursue external funding opportunities, grants, and partnerships to support departmental initiatives and enhance resources.

Ensure proper utilization of departmental resources, facilities, and equipment, promoting their maintenance and upgrade as required.

Faculty And Staff Development

Recruit, hire, and retain highly qualified faculty and staff, ensuring appropriate staffing levels to meet program and course demands.

Provide mentoring, guidance, and support to faculty and staff, promoting their professional growth and development.

Foster a culture of excellence in teaching, research, and service, encouraging faculty and staff to engage in scholarly activities and pursue professional advancement.

Collaboration And Stakeholder Engagement

Collaborate with other departments, academic units, and stakeholders within the institution to promote interdisciplinary initiatives, joint research, and shared resources.

Develop and maintain relationships with external partners, industry professionals, and community organizations to enhance collaboration and promote opportunities for students and faculty.

Represent the department at meetings, conferences, and events, advocating for its interests and promoting its achievements.

Teaching Load The teaching load is as needed, but not to exceed 3 hours per semester, including summer (not to exceed 9 hours per academic year).

Job Qualifications

Master’s degree in Cybersecurity, Computer Science, or related field required from an accredited institution of higher learning; Ph.D. preferred in a relevant discipline.

Significant professional experience preferred (3‑5 years).

Teaching experience preferred.

Experience with publishing and/or presenting research preferred.

Excellent written and oral communication skills.

Strong organizational skills.

Experience developing cybersecurity content preferred.

Cybersecurity credentials and/or certificates preferred.

Demonstrated understanding and strong commitment to cultural diversity.

Physical Demands

Ability to sit or stand for up to 8 hours per day. Some lifting (up to 25 pounds occasionally), bending, and carrying. Specific vision abilities include ability to use close vision. Employee regularly required to talk and hear, and use hands and fingers to handle or feel.
