We are looking for a licensed
Telecommunications Systems Engineer
who is excited about working on projects that enable the heart of our clients’ business. This is a geographically flexible, hybrid position in the US. You will have project leadership opportunities as a telecom discipline lead, working with supporting design staff to produce complex design packages, in coordination with architects and other discipline engineers under one Jacobs design team. You will interface directly with client counterparts to design facilities to meet their needs. You will use AutoCAD and Revit MEP design software to create fully coordinated 3D models across all disciplines. You’ll lead the design of everything from Outside Plant (OSP) to backbone distribution systems, communication room layouts, rack elevations, wired & wireless device plans and cable schedules. All designs and calculations will be completed in accordance with NEC, applicable TIA and other industry standards, as well as client and/or Jacobs specifications. Responsibilities
Provide telecommunications systems design documentation for client facilities and coordinate with architects and other discipline engineers. Lead or support project leadership within the telecom discipline and produce complex design packages. Deliver 3D BIM models using AutoCAD and Revit MEP; develop 2D sheets and construction specifications. Design Outside Plant (OSP) and intra-/inter-building backbone distribution systems; plan communication room layouts, rack elevations, and cable schedules. Ensure designs comply with NEC, TIA, and applicable standards and specifications. Qualifications
Two-year technical degree or four-year non-technical degree At least 6 years of relevant experience in telecommunications design and construction Professional Engineer (PE) license Knowledge & application of NFPA 70 (NEC) as applicable to telecommunications design Knowledge & application of Telecommunications Industry Association (TIA) standards Experience leading telecommunications design teams Experience editing design and construction specifications Experience with start-up and commissioning of telecommunications systems Experience estimating and scheduling design efforts for large multi-building projects with multiple phases Strong structured cabling design background Proficiency with Bluebeam Effective verbal and written communication skills Familiarity with Navisworks Ideally, you’ll also have BICSI (Building Industry Consulting Services International), RCDD (Registered Communications Distribution Designer) credential, or the ability to obtain in 6 months At least 4 years of telecommunications design experience in semiconductor or data center industries Project management experience Working knowledge of Revit and Navisworks Knowledge and design experience with emergency responder radio and DAS Knowledge and design experience of telecom infrastructure for life safety and security systems (fire alarm, access control, CCTV) Knowledge of telecom infrastructure for control systems Experience in providing assurance and checking of telecommunications systems designed by others Other certifications such as BICSI OSP or BICSI RTPM We value collaboration and emphasize hybrid work policies to balance in-person and remote work.
