Base pay range $123,600.00/yr - $170,000.00/yr

We are looking for a Senior Telecommunications Systems Engineer who is excited about working on projects that enable the heart of our clients’ business. You will have the chance to work on projects within the booming semiconductor industry, designing research and manufacturing facilities for well‑known companies. You will thrive as you provide telecommunications systems design services and documentation for our client’s advanced facilities, shaping our world.

This is a hybrid position with geographic flexibility located in the US. As a Sr. Telecom Systems Engineer, you will take on a leadership role as a telecom discipline lead and work with supporting design staff to produce complex design packages. You will coordinate with architects and other discipline engineers under one Jacobs roof, interface directly with team members and our client, and work side‑by‑side on our client’s site in Hillsboro, Oregon. Your design work will involve AutoCAD and Revit MEP design software to create fully coordinated 3D models across all disciplines (C,S,A,M,E,P,T,I,L). You will lead the design of everything from Outside Plant (OSP) to inter/intra‑building backbone distribution systems, communication room layouts, rack elevations, wired & wireless device plans, and more. All designs and calculations will comply with the NEC, applicable TIA and other industry standards as well as Client and/or Jacobs specifications.

Requirements

Four‑year technical degree

BICSI (Building Industry Consulting Services International) or RCDD (Registered Communications Distribution Designer) credential

At least 10 years of relevant experience in telecommunications design and construction industry

Professional Engineer (PE) license

Deep knowledge and application of NFPA 70 (NEC) as applicable to telecommunications design requirements

Deep knowledge and application of telecommunications industry association (TIA) standards

Experience leading a team of 5‑10 telecommunications design staff

Experience editing design and construction specifications

Experience with start‑up and commissioning of telecommunications systems

Experience estimating and scheduling design efforts for multi‑building projects with multiple phases

Experience in providing quality assurance (QA) and checking telecommunications systems designed by others

Proficiency with Bluebeam

Strong communication skills

Familiarity with Navisworks

Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in related field

Design management experience

Working knowledge of Revit and Navisworks design software platforms

At least 10 years of telecommunications systems design experience in semiconductor, data center or other high‑tech facilities

Knowledge and design experience with wireless local area network (WLAN), paging, intercom

Knowledge of telecom infrastructure for control systems
