Pay Range: $41.44 - $67.44 per hour

Summary

The Pediatric Cardiology/Pediatric Congenital Heart Disease Program at Rush provides personalized, compassionate care for congenital (present at birth) and acquired heart disorders. We perform echocardiographic procedures of congenital heart diseases treating patients of all ages, from fetuses and newborns to children, adolescents, teenagers and adults with cardiac congenital disease. Required Job Qualifications:

ARDMS registered in Pediatric Echocardiography (RDCS PE) OR CCI registered (RCS and RCCS) and 3 years work experience as a sonographer in pediatric and adult congenital populations. Registration in Fetal Echocardiography (ARDMS RDCS FE) is expected within 12 months of employment Demonstrated pediatric echo experience BLS Proficient in understanding physiology and anatomy with some knowledge of pathology as it pertains to the heart. Excellent communication skills when speaking with patients, family members and medical and paramedical personnel.

Preferred Job Qualifications

Experience in fetal echocardiography.

Physical Demands

Ability to move a portable 550-pound machine throughout the hospital.

Responsibilities

Job Responsibilities:

Perform and provide preliminary reports of findings on patients including fetuses, premature infants, neonates, children, adolescents and adults referred to for evaluation of suspected or known congenital and acquired heart disease. Obtain information required to define congenital heart disorders for patients referred to for evaluation of non-corrected anatomy and function and/or evaluation of surgical reconstruction or repair, or placement of prosthetic devices using echocardiographic modalities such as: 2D, Doppler, Speckle tracking Technology, 3D, TDI, stress echocardiogram and TEE. May participate in ICE echoes during a variety of interventional procedures or surgeries. Assist in preparation of echocardiography materials for case conferences, CQI meetings, research and educational presentations. May assist in training hospital residents, fellows, students and technologists from other institutions as directed. Works independently perform echocardiographic procedures of common congenital heart diseases according to standards set by the Echocardiography Laboratory and obtain accurate data with minimal supervision. Participates in Echo Lab maintenance rotation as assigned. This is inclusive of, but not limited to, routinely cleaning and checking all echocardiogram equipment before and after use and preparing for next use. Notify appropriate personnel when equipment needs servicing or is damaged. Rotation to offsite hospitals or clinics if required by job needs.
