Additional Job Description West Virginia University School of Medicine and the Department of Medicine seek a Medical Director, Transplant Nephrology (ranks available: Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, or Professor). The successful candidates will be expected to practice in Morgantown, WV. Depending on operational needs, a successful candidate may also provide services at additional worksites in West Virginia and Pennsylvania, with anticipated travel required.
WVU Medicine provides comprehensive transplant services to meet the needs of patients in West Virginia and the region. The candidate for this exciting opportunity will provide medical leadership to our renal transplant program and practice in the areas of Transplant Nephrology and Nephrology.
Responsibilities
Lead the kidney transplant program and coordinate with the Surgical Director to ensure ongoing clinical operations comply with UNOS bylaws and CMS regulations.
Guide evaluation and planning for kidney and heart/kidney transplant patients through all phases of transplantation.
Participate in the growth of the program with the leadership team, including the Patient Selection Committee, QAPI, strategic planning, and research initiatives.
Practice and support the Nephrology section's clinical needs on a regular basis, including inpatient and outpatient nephrology.
Teach medical students, residents, and fellows, and mentor transplant staff in the care of kidney patients while providing ongoing support.
Qualifications
MD, DO, or foreign equivalent with eligibility for a state medical license.
Meet UNOS and OPTN requirements.
Completed fellowship in nephrology and fellowship in transplant nephrology.
Board certified in internal medicine and eligible or certified in nephrology.
At least one year of experience in transplant nephrology.
All qualifications must be met by the time of appointment.
