Summary
Patient Care Associate 2 is a licensed member of the health care team who performs advanced, supportive administrative and certain clinical duties to support the delivery of age‑specific and a single standard of care, under the supervision of a registered nurse, for a group of patients relating to their hygiene, safety, nutrition, elimination and comfort needs. The position may require demonstrating knowledge and skills in specialty area. This is a Level 4 job in the nursing support ladder. Responsibilities
Uses a systematic process to provide or modify patient and family education. Assists the health care team with advanced procedures and prepares supplies, equipment, and positioning. Performs general patient care tasks including vital signs, feeding, mobility, IV lines, drainage, and personal hygiene (bath, dressing, bedmaking, linen changes). Utilizes specialized equipment such as spirometers and restraints. Prepares and cleans examination rooms, patient treatment areas, and stretchers between patient use. Transports patients to and from treatment areas when needed. Maintains supplies and equipment for patient floor, including inventory, ordering, stock rotations, and charges. Assists with office duties such as answering phone and taking messages. Follows unit‑specific policies, procedures, and competency checklists. Performs ER duties such as responding to medical and non‑emergency calls, assisting paramedics, and transporting patients. Assists in preparing patients for procedures and sterile equipment handling under medical team direction. Demonstrates service excellence and CARE values (Compassion, Accountability, Respect, and Expertise). Performs all other related job duties as assigned. Experience
Generally requires 1 to 3 years of related experience. Education
High School diploma is required. Skill
Ability to analyze, organize, and prioritize work accurately while meeting multiple deadlines. Effective communication skills, both oral and written. Ability to handle difficult and stressful situations with critical thinking and professional composure. Knowledge and skill in use of job‑appropriate technology and software applications. Must meet and maintain current all unit‑specific and organizational skills/competencies, certifications/licenses, as required by the clinical area. Credentials
A. Proof of completion of school training program for patient care technician **AND** proof of phlebotomy training. B. FL Licensure as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) **AND** proof of phlebotomy training. C. Proof of completion of school training program for Medical Assisting (phlebotomy is included in training). D. FL Licensure as EMT (phlebotomy is included in training). American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) required upon hire with at least 6 months validity and maintenance at JHS for the duration of employment. Unit Specific Credential

Physical Requirements – Job function requires extended standing or walking. Must be able to carry objects weighing 21 to 50 pounds. Able to lift or move objects weighing 51 to 100 pounds with the use of appropriate devices.
