Position Overview
The Maintenance Engineer is responsible for the operation, maintenance, service and repair of equipment. The role completes maintenance request work orders from all departments promptly and assists in the repair, maintenance, upkeep, and replacement of the property's cosmetic materials (interior/exterior painting, patching of woodwork, furniture refinishing) in accordance with hotel standards, also supporting other Engineering areas as needed.
Job Details Swing shift: 3:00 pm–11:00 pm (3 days) and 10:00 pm–6:00 am (2 days).
Job Duties
Safely perform highly complex repairs of the physical property, electrical, plumbing, and mechanical equipment, air conditioners, refrigeration and pool heaters, ensuring all methods, materials and practices meet company, local, and national codes with minimal supervision.
Perform routine inspections and ensure equipment complies with safety standards.
Use advanced knowledge of commercial building systems and maintenance tools.
Bring demonstrated experience as a Mechanical/Maintenance Engineer in the hotel industry.
Proficiently troubleshoot issues and execute repairs promptly.
Strong problem‑solving aptitude.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for effective collaboration.
Physical capability to handle and move heavy equipment as needed.
Adhere to property guidelines to ensure health, safety, and comfort of team members and guests.
Knowledge of proper chemical handling and disposal.
Ability to prioritize tasks and meet work assignment deadlines.
Utilize PPE in accordance with property guidelines.
Manage guest requests, inquiries, and complaints promptly and follow‑up to maintain high guest satisfaction.
Carry out regular maintenance tasks and thorough inspections to uphold operational integrity of hotel systems.
Maintain accurate maintenance logs and monitor inventory of supplies.
Troubleshoot and repair all types of equipment (e.g., pump and motor replacement, plumbing, electrical, cosmetic items, extension cords, vacuum cleaners, internet devices) and program TVs, using lockout/tagout before work.
Operate safely with hand and power tools, report hazards, and safely store flammable materials.
Ensure work area is clean and free of hazards.
Support setup and dismantling of equipment for hotel events as required.
Perform any other job‑related duties as assigned.
Execute Engineer on Duty responsibilities, including readings and rounds.
Position Requirements
Interpret manufacturer's literature for installation, preparation, use, and upkeep of various materials and products used throughout the property.
Prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
Frequently stand, walk, sit, stoop, twist, push, pull, and use power and hand tools.
Lift or move up to 50 pounds routinely and up to 75 pounds occasionally.
Required Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent; technical certifications preferred.
Wage Rate $42.00 per hour.
