Job Description The Chelmsford Public Schools is now accepting applications for the following anticipated vacancy. The District reserves the right to change this vacancy or not fill it based on further staffing changes, enrollment, or budget.
Position:
Extended Day Junior Counselor (Extended Day - Exempt)
Location:
Chelmsford Elementary Schools, Parker Middle School, Chelmsford Community Education
Reports To:
Childcare Supervisor and Director of Community Education
Job Goal:
To assist in providing an enriching, exciting, and fun after school experience to the children enrolled in our Chelmsford Community Education Programs, ensuring all participants have a memorable time during any activities provided.
Performance Responsibilities
Attend mandatory training before Extended Day starts.
Work with children ages Pre‑K through 6th Grade in a positive and supportive manner.
Ability to work on the floor, lift over 50 lbs, work outdoors during all weather conditions, and stay on their feet – other physical requirements as needed. Some programs will be outdoors daily, during the cold, rain or shine.
Willingness to be trained.
Accept and adhere to all guidelines set forth in handbooks.
Report all necessary problems and/or information to supervisor/counselor on duty.
Assist with the supervision of students.
Perform all other related duties as directed or as responsibilities necessitate.
Attend and complete all required training.
Perform various instructional, clerical, supportive and other related duties under the direction of the Supervisor.
Terms Of Employment
Positions are part time.
Hours will vary based on program.
Employment period: 08/26/2025 – 06/30/2026.
Evaluation Job performance will be evaluated by the Program Supervisor.

Job Requirements
High school graduate (or 15 years of age with working papers) and at least 15 years old.
Related experience working with children/teens desirable.
Demonstrated aptitude or competence for assigned responsibilities.
Alternatives to the above qualifications may be found appropriate by the Director of Community Education.
Completed CORI check and fingerprinting accepted.
At least 3 years of relevant experience preferred.
Bachelor’s degree preferred.
Citizenship, residency or work visa required.
