This will be a seasonal, non-benefited position running July 7 – August 8. The weekly hours will vary based on program needs. Ability to work morning and afternoon shifts is required. The goal is to assist in providing an enriching, exciting, and fun summer experience to children enrolled in our Chelmsford Community Education Summer Programs, including Summerfest, SummerQuest, Field Play, and more.
Qualifications
High School Diploma; some college work preferred.
Related experience working with children/teens desirable.
Demonstrated aptitude or competence for assigned responsibilities.
Alternative qualifications acceptable by the Director of Community Education.
Completed and accepted CORI and fingerprinting.
Duties / Responsibilities
Assist with preparation and maintenance of records for students in need of individualized instruction.
Assist with planning activities to enhance student experience.
Adapt behavior management expectations and plans to meet individualized needs.
Supervise students when needed.
Perform other related duties as directed.
Implement plans aligned with the weekly theme.
Create a safe and enjoyable environment for the children.
Attend mandatory staff meeting prior to summer and complete all required training.
Potentially work as Group Leader.
Help offer an amazing summer filled with games, laughter and positive interaction.
Meet physical requirements: work on the floor, lift >50 lbs, work outdoors in all weather, and travel daily.
Mentor junior counselors.
Reports to:
Program Supervisor and Director of Community Education
Terms of Employment
Position ranges from part‑time to full‑time.
Hours vary based on program.
Salary: $18.75 per hour.
Work year: Summer Position.
Evaluation:
Performance is evaluated annually in writing by the Supervisor and discussed with the incumbent. A copy is maintained by the Director of Community Education.
