About Gilead Sciences

Gilead is a global biopharmaceutical leader committed to creating a healthier world through science and innovation. For more than 35 years, we have tackled diseases such as HIV, viral hepatitis, COVID‑19, and cancer, working relentlessly to develop therapies that improve lives and to ensure access to these therapies across the globe. PBPK Scientist (Senior Clinical Manager)

As a PBPK expert, your main role will be to adapt, develop, and apply mechanistic physiology‑based pharmacokinetic (PBPK) models for both small and large molecule formats. These models will support key PK predictions for clinical pharmacology, including drug‑drug interactions, special population extrapolations, translational PK, PBPK‑PD, PBPK‑QSP, and regulatory submissions. Responsibilities

Develop PBPK models for small molecules and large molecule formats such as mAbs, bispecific Abs, ADCs, and other Ab constructs. Utilize existing PBPK frameworks (GastroPlus, Simcyp, PK‑Sim) where appropriate. Create minimal PBPK models and custom PBPK models using R and MATLAB as needed. Communicate regularly with cross‑functional teams to update modeling strategy and ensure timely execution of modeling goals. Present model findings to clinical teams and incorporate feedback. Provide expert guidance across teams as needed. Contribute to regulatory documents with reproducible documentation. Maintain accurate records of data, assumptions, parameter values, and model changes. Proactively identify opportunities to apply PBPK models to support portfolio and project needs. Author manuscripts describing model development and findings. Present modeling work externally at conferences and working groups. Serve as the PBPK subject matter expert to support Clinical Pharmacology with program‑specific questions. Basic Qualifications

8+ years with BS OR 6+ years with MS OR 2+ years with PhD/PharmD OR 0+ years with MD Preferred Qualifications

Proficiency in mathematical and computational skills needed for PBPK modeling work, including ordinary differential equations, linear algebra, statistics, optimization, and parameter inference. Expertise in at least one PBPK software package (GastroPlus, Simcyp, PK‑Sim). Proficiency in relevant software and programming languages (Python, R, C++, Julia, MATLAB, SimBiology). Basic understanding of molecular and cellular biology (immunology, oncology, virology, cellular signaling). Basic understanding of concepts of drug development. 3+ years of relevant experience and a PhD or PharmD degree. Experience with quantitative systems pharmacology (QSP) modeling. Experience with mechanistic PK/PD and compartmental PK/PD modeling. People Leader Accountabilities
