Deputy Attorney General II-V, Office of Unclaimed Property & State Lottery Office Civil Division, Fiscal Integrity & Protection Unit
Position within the Delaware Attorney General’s Office, providing legal advice to the Office of Unclaimed Property and the State Lottery Office, divisions of the Delaware Department of Finance.
Essential Functions
Represent the State Escheator and the Office of Unclaimed Property in legal matters, including unclaimed property reporting, examinations of corporate entities for escheat law compliance, claim processing, and advocacy in claim appeal proceedings before the Tax Appeal Board.
Offer counsel related to procurement, contracting, legislation, regulations, FOIA, personnel matters, and other issues for the State Escheator.
Provide legal advice to the State Lottery Office on procurement, multistate agreements for shared Internet gaming platforms, licensing denials, suspensions, revocations, trademark filings or updates, exclusion of individuals from casinos and internet gaming, and other regulatory matters.
Assist in litigation as required and handle additional assignments directed by the State Solicitor, Deputy State Solicitor, Unit Head or Assistant Unit Head.
Job Requirements
Proactive approach to assisting agency clients, identifying potential legal issues and helping clients mitigate future legal action.
Ability to work independently, meet deadlines, communicate clearly with client agencies, and demonstrate a thorough knowledge of relevant laws.
Excellent writing, research, statutory interpretation, contract drafting, administrative law, and regulatory compliance skills.
Experience in gaming laws and regulations and in litigating cases before an administrative hearing officer is helpful but not required.
Membership in the Delaware Bar is required.
Salary and Pay Grades
Pay Grade 12 DAG I – Annual salary $87,458
Pay Grade 14 DAG II – Salary Range $92,259 – $96,760
Pay Grade 16 DAG III – Salary Range $101,898 – $104,137
Pay Grade 18 DAG IV – Salary Range $112,013 – $117,440
Pay Grade 20 DAG V – Salary Range $125,885 – $135,154
