Description

Screens and evaluates the communication and feeding/swallowing skills of preschoolers as per ASHA guidelines during intake evaluations and screenings, and annual review evaluations and updates.

Develops and implements therapy programs based upon the child’s individual needs, in accordance with the school philosophy, utilizing state‑of‑the‑art techniques.

Participates in all aspects of the interdisciplinary treatment team, including formal and informal meetings, consultations, and submits clinical documentation: evaluation and screening reports, daily log notes, monthly or bi‑monthly notes, and IEP documentation.

Participates in department, supervisory, staff, team, and module meetings as specified by the facility.

Functions as a child advocate as an internal representative and for outside meetings.

Evaluates the effectiveness of classroom programs, such as language lessons and group communication programs.

Maintains effective interpersonal relationships with team members, other staff, supervisors, administrative staff, parents, and outside agencies, demonstrating: open communication, self‑evaluation, utilization of supervision, flexibility, and the ability to offer and accept assistance.

Education

Master’s Degree

Experience

Pediatric experience preferred.

Certificates & Licenses

Master’s Degree in Speech Pathology.

Licensure/Certification in Speech Pathology.

NYS Teacher of Speech and Hearing Handicapped Certification (TSHH/TSSLD).
