Job Summary
United Way Miami, Inc. is hiring an
Associate Director, Development (Major Gifts/Fundraiser)
to join our team. As an Associate Director, you will develop and build relationships in the community to address the health and human service needs of the community through United Way Miami. You will develop and maintain various fundraising initiatives to include individual and corporate fundraising.
Salary & Compensation Salary Range:
$67,995.00-$76,125.00 annually
Hybrid Schedule:
2 days from home and 3 days on‑site

Principal Duties and Responsibilities
Manage an account portfolio of approximately 100‑125 prospective and current donors at the $10,000 Tocqueville Society and higher, to include goal setting.
Identify, qualify, cultivate, solicit, and steward donors.
Participate in all aspects of the gift cycle: initiate contacts with current, potential Tocqueville Society and major donors to generate new business; develop appropriate cultivation strategies; move potential donors toward solicitation and closures; make solicitations when appropriate.
Maintain stewardship contacts with donors; adhere to the highest ethical standards; demonstrate empathetic disposition, perseverance, optimistic and positive attitude and convey sensitivity to donors’ needs.
Ensure all Tocqueville Society gifts are accounted for during the fiscal year.
Participate in 15-20 donor meetings a month.
Work collaboratively with volunteers, other development staff, and United Way staff to achieve the needs of prospects.
Work with the Prospect Manager to identify new business and coordinate cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship activities.
Attend United Way events and outside events for United Way representation and networking.
Solicit gifts of $10,000 and higher from individuals.
Collaborate with Development Officers to identify major and planned gift prospects within giving communities and employee campaigns to create, cultivate, and solicit Tocqueville Society donors.
Strategically implement reports into the fundraising approach, using United Way’s CRM database tool, Andar, and maintain data quality and integrity.
Work closely with administrative, marketing, and engagement teams.
Identify prospects, engage them in United Way work, and secure appropriate revenues through cross‑selling opportunities; serve as a pipeline for overall fundraising efforts.
Requirements Education:
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
Experience:
3‑5 years in fundraising or sales, presentation skills, and account management.
Technology:
Advanced Word and Excel; CRM/database experience; proficiency with web browsers, Office Suite/365, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
Other Essential Skills:
Public speaking, understanding of people, adaptation to changing situations, analysis of industry trends, sales ability, computer skills, basic math, negotiation skills. Spanish language is helpful but not required.
