Job Description Position Title: Chief Financial Officer (CFO)

Reports To: CEO

Direct Reports: Finance Manager, Accountants

Job Status: Full‑Time / Exempt

Responsible for developing and maintaining a fiscal reporting system that presents the financial status of the organization and overseeing financial management of the agency.

Duties, Functions and Responsibilities

Collaborate with CEO to develop reports to present the financial status of the organization to the Board of Directors.

Prepare monthly financial statements and present to the board treasurer for presentation to the full BOD.

Collect and prepare payroll information.

Develop and implement a system to manage and report accounts payable and receivables.

Develop and implement a system for payments for contractual agreements.

Develop a system for maintaining financial records year‑to‑year.

Develop and maintain a system for monitoring staff benefits, i.e., vacation accrual, health‑related benefits, child‑support payments and other related issues.

Work with development team to prepare budgets for grant submission.

Perform trend analyses on budget to determine how to allocate grant dollars.

Prepare an annual budget for presentation to the finance committee.

Prepare a monthly bank reconciliation report for the CEO.

Maintain financial records for each contract and grant compliance.

Serve as staff liaison to the finance committee of the board of directors.

Prepare a forecasting system to demonstrate the financial status of the organization.

Maintain financial files in preparation for the annual audit.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Knowledge of and proficiency in GAAP.

Proficiency with all financial software utilized by the organization.

Understanding and practice of the NASW code of ethics.

Ability to utilize agency and community resources to meet goals.

Team oriented and able to work independently.

Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite.

Educational and Experience Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in accounting; CPA preferred.

3 to 5 years of accounting experience with at least one year as a fiscal manager in a not-for-profit organization.

Valid Missouri driver’s license and reliable, insured vehicle.

Work setting: in‑person

License/Certification: CPA (Preferred)

Ability to commute: St. Louis, MO 63103 (Required)

Ability to relocate: St. Louis, MO 63103 – relocate before starting work (Required)
