What to Expect
Tesla Electronics Test and Automation Team is looking for an amazing Test Engineer who would be responsible for designing and developing test hardware, software, and technical processes for Tesla's vehicle PCBAs. This role will work in cross‑functional environments with the electronics design teams, firmware and integration teams, and manufacturing teams to come up with sophisticated automatic functional to support high‑volume electronics manufacturing.
What You'll Do
Own and lead the test system software, hardware design, and implementation of product testing on Tesla products from prototype to mass production
Develop device drivers for new products and integrating/scaling them into larger systems for production
Collaborate with cross‑functional teams, covering a diverse set of technical domains - including EE, Firmware, and Integration early on in the product development lifecycle and influence the product DFT's (Design for Test) and provide suggestions/features required for testing functionality and performance
Conduct failure/data analysis to provide feedback to electronics design team, firmware/software integration teams, and manufacturing teams for product and process improvements
Strong track record of designing systems and deploying them, as well as documenting system test plans and communicate to leadership, peers and other team members
Be a key liaison between Tesla and Contract Manufacturers/NPI/External Vendors to ensure that our test station and hardware is ready for manufacturing testing
Design, develop, and maintain automation test frameworks/software tests for new features
Develop automation tools, maintain CI/CD pipelines for regression testing and rapid test prototyping on new hardware
Develop, QA, and deploy software to contract manufacturing sites
What You'll Bring
Degree in Computer, Electronics, Electrical Engineering or equivalent with 3+ years of relevant work experience in test engineering, software development, or hardware/software integration or equivalent experience
Solid understanding of analog, digital, and power electronics hardware architectures and design
Proficiency with Unix/Linux command‑line tools and environments
Strong understanding of QA methodologies, testing strategies, and SLDC (software development lifecycle)
Experience in practical applications of Python, Golang, or Rust/C++
Ability to decipher complex electrical schematics and PCB layouts - and design clear, relevant software tests. Experience in schematic and PCB Layout design using Altium, Allegro or similar CAD tool preferred but not required
Demonstrated ability to drive an automated testing project
Hands‑on knowledge & technical capability in tester design & qualifications, troubleshooting, limit setting, and process buy‑offs
Proficient in statistical analysis and skilled in using relevant tools for data analysis preferred
Willingness to travel domestically and/or internationally up to 10% of the time

Expected Compensation $104,000 - $174,000/annual salary + cash and stock awards + benefits
Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job‑related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements dependent on the position offered.
