We are looking for an experienced Structure & Payload Design Engineer in North Charleston, SC. The selected candidate will develop, maintain, integrate, modify, and document structural and interior payload system requirements to establish system designs for the Boeing 787 program using three‑dimensional computer aided design tools.

Position Responsibilities

Develop, maintain, integrate, modify, and document structural and interior payload system requirements to establish system designs for the Boeing 787 program using three‑dimensional computer aided design tools.

Collaborate with internal and external technical experts, certification experts, supplier management, and program leaders to establish the technical direction of assigned projects.

Provide product definition to other engineering groups, production operations, suppliers, and external customers throughout the product lifecycle.

Conduct and analyze tests to validate and verify systems and components meet regulatory requirements and engineering specifications.

Manage complex design problems, investigate aircraft manufacturing issues, and resolve reported problems.

Coordinate with suppliers to optimize designs and achieve program goals.

Investigate emerging technologies to develop concepts for future product designs and innovations to meet projected requirements.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience) Minimum requirements are expressed for two paths:

Path 1:

Bachelor’s degree or foreign equivalent in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or related discipline plus five years of progressive post‑baccalaureate experience, and five years of experience with each of the following:

Designing Boeing 787 or Airbus 350 interior payload systems

Three‑dimensional modelling of interior payload systems using CATIA

Developing root cause corrective actions and installation plans for the modification of designs or production

Complying with Federal Aviation Administration airworthiness standards

Composite material properties for the Boeing 787 aircraft

Path 2:

Master’s degree or foreign equivalent in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or related discipline plus three years of professional experience as an Engineer or related occupation, and three years of experience with each of the following:

Designing Boeing 787 or Airbus 350 interior payload systems

Three‑dimensional modelling of interior payload systems using CATIA

Developing root cause corrective actions and installation plans for the modification of designs or production

Complying with Federal Aviation Administration airworthiness standards

Composite material properties for the Boeing 787 aircraft

Relocation:

Relocation assistance is not a negotiable benefit for this position. Candidates must live in the immediate area or relocate at their own expense.
