Construction Manager – Los Angeles, CA
PMCS Group is seeking a Construction Manager to oversee the construction of a convention event center. The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications.
Job Duties
Administer the construction contract on-site. Oversee day‑to‑day construction management activities such as processing RFIs (Requests for Information), reviewing shop drawings/submittals and plan clarifications, reviewing as‑built drawings, processing and negotiating change orders, dispute resolution, meeting coordination, final project close‑out.
Serve as the principal interface between the Contractor/developer, the Lead Inspector/Inspection team, and management.
Monitor contractor performance, ensure compliance with contract plans/specifications, schedule, budget, quality, and applicable codes.
Oversee or supervise the final project close‑out process: punch‑list completion, as‑built documentation, contractor final payment, contract file close‑out.
Maintain communication and coordination across disciplines (engineering, inspection, quality assurance/quality control, safety, contract administration, schedule management).
Often manage or coordinate multiple stakeholder interfaces: contractors/subcontractors, city agencies, design team, inspectors, external authorities (especially for public works).
Prepare or review reports on project status: schedule progress, cost or change orders, risk management, documentation of issues/mitigation.
Minimum Requirements
Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in Engineering, Construction Management, Architecture or related field.
Minimum of 10 years of progressively responsible construction/project management experience.
Experience managing hospitality/conference/event centers, or similar facilities.
Experience with design‑build projects.
Strong communication and coordination skills. Capable of working in a fast‑paced environment.
Preferred Skills
Knowledgeable with City of LA Department of Building and Safety applicable building codes, safety standards, public works standards.
Working experience with City of LA Bureau of Engineering A and B Permits.
DBIA Certification and/or PE License.
