The Department of Chicano and Latin American Studies at California State University, Fresno invites applications for a tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor in Chicanx Studies. Candidates with a demonstrated commitment to applied, community-based, or participatory approaches that address health, well‑being, or environmental justice in Latinx communities are preferred.
Required Education
An earned doctorate or equivalent terminal degree in Chicanx Studies, Latinx Studies, Ethnic Studies, a related Social Science, or a closely related field is required.
Applicants nearing completion of the doctorate (ABD) may be considered. For employment, the doctorate must be completed by 8/1/2026.
Required Experience
Demonstrated commitment to culturally responsive teaching and mentorship with a diverse student population.
Primary research interests that examine how systems of power, inequality, or representation shape the experiences, well‑being, or collective action of Chicanx and Latinx communities.
Evidence of successful teaching experience in lower‑ and upper‑division undergraduate courses within Chicanx and Latinx Studies (e.g., CLAS 3, CLAS 5, CLAS 30, CLAS 141), especially those meeting General Education Requirement Area 6.
Demonstrated ability to connect teaching and scholarly work to community‑based or publicly engaged research.
Preferred Qualifications
Commitment to applied, community‑based, or participatory approaches addressing health, well‑being, or environmental justice in Latinx communities.
Evidence of applying critical approaches to research.
