Role Overview CHAOS is looking for a Facility Security Officer (FSO) to support our VP of Legal and Operations. You will be the company’s Facility Security Officer and be responsible for implementing and directing the industrial security program and ensuring company and customer security requirements are met across our multiple facilities in Southern California and Washington, DC. You will interface with all levels of personnel and government management personnel to ensure contract security compliance with 32 CFR, the National Industrial Security Program, the National Industrial Security Program Operating Manual (NISPOM), Contract Security Classification Specifications (DD Form 254) and Security Classification Guides (SCGs). You will play a pivotal role in building out and implementing our clearance processes, managing personnel security clearances, ensuring compliance with federal regulations, and contributing to secure operations. This role ensures we proactively protect, train, and provide safety to employees, visitors, assets, and critical infrastructure while aligning with corporate objectives and federal security regulations. This role will also help guide the design and construction of secure spaces.
Responsibilities
Administer day-to-day security programs in compliance with 32 CFR Part 117, Security Classification Guides, and program guidance, including personnel processing, program reviews, document control system, inventories, audits & self‑inspections, violation investigations & reports, receipt/dispatch/destruction/mail logs, visit certs
Provide guidance to employees and recommend modifications to operations policies or procedures
Maintain and update the DISS for the entire company including geographically separated Operating Locations
Process requests for changes to DISS, including analyzing requests to assure proper need‑to‑know justifications are enforced
Maintain and update NISS for all Operating Locations
Maintain required hard‑copy files to perform assigned duties. Prepare and execute required periodic reporting and/or audits and reviews in accordance with applicable directives, regulations, and instructions
Provide continuous training and guidance in all areas of security; including but not limited to local procedures, OPSEC, Communications Security (COMSEC), Security Awareness, and marking classified material
Enforce foreign contact and travel requirements, entry procedures, escort procedures, document control procedures, and classification review/guidance requests
Manage collateral facilities, access control systems, and alarm systems. Coordinate the buildout of new Open Storage Areas (OSAs) and Restricted Areas
Analyze and assess issues with personnel security and propose solutions that meet standards set by applicable regulations, directives and instructions
Minimum Requirements
5+ years of related Security experience
Bachelors Degree or equivalent (4 years)
Must hold a current U.S. TOP SECRET security clearance
Must complete DISS/NISS training
Must hold Facility Program Management for Possessing Facilities certification
Current or able to obtain Industrial Security Professional (ISP) Certification
Strong understanding of Physical Security requirements
Understanding of DISS, e‑QIP, NISS, and ISFD
Experience creating and conducting initial security briefings, debriefings, indoctrinations, pre/post‑foreign travel briefings and refresher briefings, as appropriate
Ability to communicate policy and procedures clearly to all cleared staff
Able to meet timelines and prioritize demands effectively
Thorough working knowledge of the 32 CFR, other relevant DoD security guidance
Experience developing and implementing OPSEC plans
Must be able to read and interpret Security Classification Guides (SCGs) and develop and deliver training pertaining to them
Must have the ability to work in a dynamic environment and effectively interact with numerous DOD, military/civilian personnel and industry partners
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, and Excel)

Salary Range $115,000 – $180,000. The stated compensation range reflects only the targeted base compensation range and excludes additional earnings such as bonus, equity, and benefits. The salary range for this role is an estimate based on a range of compensation factors, inclusive of base salary only. Actual salary offer may vary based on work experience, education and/or training, critical skills, and/or business considerations.
