Schedule:
32 hours per week on a day/evening rotation with every other weekend and holiday shift.
Job Summary:
The Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), also known as a Patient Care Assistant (PCA), works under the direction of a Registered Nurse (RN) to provide comprehensive patient support. Key responsibilities include blood glucose monitoring, completing EKGs, applying basic dressings, using aseptic technique, and responding to medical emergencies using Heartsaver CPR and AED. The PCA also engages with patients and families, supports efficient unit operations, and encourages a patient‑ and family‑centered care model.
The unit (BWFH 6 South) is a 37‑private‑bed fast‑paced medicine/telemetry teaching unit that cares for adults with acute and chronic conditions such as asthma, COPD, renal disease, DKA, DVT, influenza, HTN, PE, pneumonia, sepsis, UTI, and other clinical conditions. The unit is equipped with telemetry, Vocera, Epic, and Constant Monitoring System (CVM) technology.
Qualifications:
High School Diploma or Equivalent (no degree substitution).
Certified Nursing Assistant/Patient Care Technician (CNA/PCT) from a recognized program.
HeartSaver CPR & AED certification (American Heart Association).
Valid CNA license and completion of a Nursing Assistant training program.
Excellent verbal, reading, and writing English skills.
Ability to pass clinical competency, basic math, and reading assessments.
Physical ability to lift, transfer, and move patients and equipment.
Strong interpersonal, organizational, and stress‑management skills.
Adherence to all I C.A.R.E. Standards.
