Required Qualifications

Licensed Practical Nurse in the state of New York.

Two (2) years of full-time experience working in a healthcare environment.

Previous experience using Electronic Medical Record (EMR) and/or research sponsor systems.

Experience drawing blood.

Preferred Qualifications

One (1) year of clinical research experience including industry‑sponsored trials.

Experience working in an Emergency Department.

Certified Clinical Research Coordinator (CCRC).

Brief Description of Duties The Clinical Research Associate I supports the research efforts in the Department of Emergency Medicine through the following responsibilities:

Review all active protocols and manage clinical trials from IRB initiation to close‑out.

Conduct sponsor monitoring visits and oversee drug/device company audits.

Develop enrollment targets and methodologies for Stony Brook Emergency Medicine patients.

Submit pharmaceutical proposals and consent forms to the IRB.

Liaise between SBMC, pharmaceutical sponsor, patients, and IRB.

Determine patient eligibility for protocol participation by reviewing patient medical records.

Collect data for study analysis.

Ensure treatments, evaluations, and dose modifications are administered per protocol.

Identify candidates for enrollment, review inclusion/exclusion criteria, and maintain records during the study.

Assess patients for Serious Adverse Events.

Draw blood and administer study drug medications as required by protocol.

Administer quality of life and other assessments to protocol patients.

Educate families and staff nurses on the research process and investigational study drugs.

Finalize reports to pharmaceutical sponsors in a timely manner to maximize funding.

Other duties as assigned.

Special Notes The Research Foundation of SUNY is a private educational corporation. Employment is subject to Research Foundation policies, sponsor guidelines, and the availability of funding. FLSA exempt position, not eligible for overtime provisions of the FLSA. Minimum salary threshold must be met to maintain FLSA exemption.

Essential Position This position is designated as essential. Employees may be required to work or remain on campus even during campus closures.

Work Schedule Full‑time, day shift (8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.), variable shift hours. Evening and weekend work may be required at times.
