Position Summary The Risk Control Consultant supports clients by identifying, evaluating, and mitigating risks. This role provides expert guidance in Risk Control and safety measures to protect clients against potential claims and losses. The Consultant will work closely with insurance carriers, agents, and clients, offering tailored risk management solutions, inspections, and training programs to minimize liabilities and improve safety and compliance. This position will report to the President, Risk Management.
Responsibilities:
Client Assessments:
Conduct on‑site and virtual risk assessments for commercial lines clients to identify potential hazards and recommend appropriate risk control measures.
Risk Control Surveys:
Perform thorough inspections and risk control surveys for businesses, ensuring compliance with insurance requirements, safety regulations, and industry best practices.
Risk Mitigation Strategies:
Develop and implement risk reduction strategies and provide practical advice to clients to minimize exposure to losses, including recommendations for safety programs, training, and corrective actions.
Training and Education:
Provide clients with safety and loss prevention training on topics such as OSHA compliance, workplace safety, fire prevention, fleet safety, and other industry‑specific risks.
Report Generation:
Prepare detailed reports summarizing risk assessments, recommendations, and compliance status and present findings to clients, underwriters, and insurance agents.
Collaboration:
Work with insurance carriers, agents, and other stakeholders to address client needs and implement risk management programs.
Continuous Learning:
Stay informed on industry trends, regulatory changes, and emerging risks in order to provide up‑to‑date and relevant advice to clients.
Relationship Building:
Foster strong relationships with clients and serve as a trusted advisor in risk control and loss prevention.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Risk Management, Safety Engineering, Industrial Hygiene, or a related field
Minimum of 7–10 years of experience in risk management, loss control, or safety consulting, preferably within the insurance industry
ARM, CSP, CRM, or other relevant certifications are preferred
Strong understanding of OSHA regulations, insurance risk control practices, and industry‑specific safety standards
Proficiency with risk management software and reporting tools
Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills
Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities
Ability to work independently and manage multiple client relationships
Organizational and time management skills
Ability to foster and build relationships
Ability to be persuasive
Ability to pass a criminal background check, as permitted by law
Approximately 75% regional travel is required to fulfill job responsibilities

Midwest Region - Chicago
South Region - Miami
