Tax Controversy & Litigation Associate Location:

Washington, D.C. (or other major U.S. hubs as appropriate)

A leading international law firm is seeking a highly qualified associate to join its Tax Controversy and Litigation team. The group advises multinational corporations and high‑profile clients on complex disputes, offering the opportunity to work on sophisticated, often novel issues involving federal tax law, transfer pricing, and cross‑border matters.

Key Responsibilities

Support all stages of tax controversy and litigation, including audits, administrative appeals, and federal court proceedings.

Draft legal memoranda, briefs, and submissions addressing complex tax and procedural issues.

Conduct detailed legal research and analysis on domestic and international tax concepts.

Collaborate with partners and colleagues on strategic approaches to high‑stakes disputes.

Engage directly with clients and government agencies on technical tax matters.

Who You Are

1–3 years of experience in tax controversy or tax litigation.

Strong academic credentials with excellent writing, communication, and analytical skills.

Creative thinker with the ability to approach complex tax problems from multiple angles.

Knowledge of international tax or transfer pricing concepts preferred.

Experience at the IRS, DOJ Tax Division, or a federal judicial clerkship is advantageous.

Compensation Salary Range:

$225,000 – $310,000 DOE
