Job Purpose The Assistant Warehouse Manager is responsible for managing daily operations of the warehouse on the assigned shift, including scheduling warehouse worker hours, inbound and outbound loading, inventory control, maintenance of equipment, and warehouse housekeeping. Essential Duties And Responsibilities Ensure the facility performs yard checks, including checking all trailers in dock doors and in yard for empties and loads. Make sure yard has no trailers parked in a manner that hinders movement of other trailers. Ensure all paperwork from the previous day’s work is complete and distributed to proper departments. Oversee loading/unloading of all carriers. Ensure trailers are emptied and available for local drivers.Conduct periodic dock safety checks. Track warehouse customer inventory by computer and complete physical inventory counts. Ensure timely processing of warehouse customer orders, bill preparation and inventory control. Oversee the picking of orders from the warehouse and staging or loading of the orders. Ensure proper scheduling of carriers to pick up warehouse customer orders as directed by the customers. Manage warehouse personnel, scheduling work hours, personnel issues, performance reviews, and all disciplinary actions. Ensure all training of fork‑lift operators on the procedures for handling company freight and specific requirements for handling customer’s freight. Manage warehouse space and maximize usage of the warehouse layout. Keep warehouse clean and organized at all times, meeting all food safety requirements. Required Skills Warehouse management experience with a background in Inventory Control Systems. Solid experience in Excel, data entry, and general computer skills. Experience managing a staff of 30 or more employees and multiple shifts. Ability to maintain a clean and orderly warehouse operation. Good communication. Leadership and management abilities. Budgeting. Interpersonal skills. Motivational and goal‑setting expertise. Ability to define and resolve problems. Effective communicator with customers and other company managers. Organizational and scheduling skills. Computer skills including Word, Excel (spreadsheet), Power Point, and ability to learn application software used in the Company. Attention to detail and quality a must. Flexibility in working overtime when needed and providing coverage to other shifts. Ability to work in a fast‑paced warehouse. Qualifications Three (3) to five (5) years of management experience. Experience in warehousing management. Education College degree preferred or extensive background in transportation warehouse management.
