IT Support Technician Bedford-Stuyvesant Restoration Corporation, founded in 1967, is the nation's first community development corporation nestled in the heart of Central Brooklyn in Bed‑Stuy. Located at Restoration Plaza, a 300,000 square foot commercial complex that offers a mix of retail, dining, recreation and entertainment, this historic organization is steeped in its mission to close the racial wealth gap.

We provide direct services across an economic mobility platform centered on workforce development, affordable housing/homeownership, community revitalization, small business development and arts and culture to 60,000 people annually.

About the Role The IT Support Technician reports to the IT Manager and provides comprehensive technical support across the organization. This role ensures smooth operation of IT systems, supports users with troubleshooting, maintains infrastructure, and manages the organization's web presence of Bedford Stuyvesant Restoration. Acting as frontline IT support, the position handles day‑to‑day technical issues, escalates complex problems to senior staff, and contributes to projects that enhance system performance, reliability, and digital engagement.

Key Responsibilities

User & Technical Support

Respond to help desk tickets and service requests promptly.

Diagnose and resolve hardware, software, and network issues.

Provide timely and patient technical guidance to staff explaining technical concepts to non‑technical users and escalates advanced issues to the IT manager.

Maintain a detailed trouble log of support requests and resolutions.

System & Network Maintenance

Support daily operations of servers, workstations, and network devices.

Install, configure, and update hardware/software (PCs, laptops, printers, VOIP telephones, mobile devices, firewalls, routers).

Monitor backups, internet access, and system security.

Maintain LAN/WAN infrastructure and assist with configuration management.

Reorganize and document cabling, racks, and patch panels.

Web Management

Maintain, update content, and optimize the organization's website for performance, security, and usability.

Manage hosting environments, DNS records, SSL certificates, and domain renewals.

Oversee CMS platform (WordPress) and ensure proper functionality.

Integrate third‑party tools (CRM, fundraising platforms, analytics, payment gateways).

Track website traffic and performance using analytics tools; provide reports on engagement and conversions.

Optimize site structure and content for SEO best practices.

Collaboration & Projects

Assist in planning and implementing upgrades to improve system capacity, speed, and reliability.

Provide coverage for IT staff.

Support cloud‑based server initiatives and emerging technology projects.

Collaborate with communications/marketing teams to publish timely web updates and campaigns.

Research and implement emerging technologies (AI‑driven chatbots/tools, automation tools, etc.).

Specialized Support

Configure and support Google Workspace, Microsoft Suite, and enterprise applications (e.g., Financial Edge, Raiser's Edge).

Troubleshoot VOIP systems, audio/video equipment, and lab computers.

Act as backup for website, email, and domain‑related issues.

Support installation and troubleshooting of A/V equipment (LED TVs, projectors, etc.).

Perform hardware replacements (hard drives, RAM, motherboards).

What you bring to the role

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or equivalent experience.

Strong troubleshooting skills in large corporate network environments.

Knowledge of LAN/WAN, TCP/IP, network topology, and client‑server access.

Proficiency with Windows, macOS, and common enterprise applications.

Experience with CMS platforms and web development languages are a plus (HTML, CSS, JavaScript).

Understanding of SEO, analytics, and accessibility standards.

Ability to learn new technologies quickly and independently.

Strong communication skills with attention to detail and documentation.

Ability to work under pressure, manage multiple priorities, and meet deadlines.

Team‑oriented with excellent collaboration skills.

Experience with firewalls, web technologies, and system security.
