Apple Inc.
Santa Clara, California, United States Hardware
Apple is a place where extraordinary people gather to do their best work! Would you like to become part of a hands‑on team that cultivates engineering precision and innovation? We are seeking for an individual to lead and be responsible for the co‑development and the transfer of novel technologies in compound semiconductor devices and processes to external partner facilities for mass production.
Description This position is for a Senior Process Integration Engineer. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of III-V compound semiconductor development cycles and fabrication processes, along with a solid technical foundation in optics, materials science, and electronics. This individual will work multi-functionally to evaluate internal process flows and analyze relevant data to ensure key performance, reliability, yield, and efficiency targets are met. The engineer will play a pivotal role in the technology transfer of qualified processes to a partner fabrication facility and will lead critical co‑development efforts to enable high-volume manufacturability. This individual will hold substantial day‑to‑day responsibilities in managing the partner site to ensure alignment with project timelines and fulfillment of product requirements.
Responsibilities
Demonstrate the viability of the baseline process flow in a MP‑intent environment
Manage co‑development of unit processes and integration flows to meet product specifications
Collaborate with both upstream and downstream supply chain partners to manage and resolve interface dependencies
Drive execution at the partner facility to ensure timely delivery of in‑spec components that support system builds and program milestones
The role also requires regular reporting and communication of key progress updates, technical findings, issue resolutions, and escalation items to multi‑functional stakeholders and leadership on a weekly basis
Given the fabrication‑focused nature of the role, frequent travel to the partner facility is expected
Minimum Qualifications
Master’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, Applied Physics, Electrical Engineering, Chemistry or related fields
5+ years hands on semiconductor process integration experience
Preferred Qualifications
PhD in Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, Applied Physics, Electrical Engineering
10+ years of experience with process integration of compound semiconductor devices
5+ years of working in clean room facility managing wafer design of experiments and processing
5+ years of experience with failure analysis characterization techniques
Experience in transferring technologies from development status into mass production maturity
Broad knowledge of material and device physics of compound semiconductors
Excellent critical analysis, statistical analysis, and reasoning skills
Expertise in problem solving methods and ability to moderate root cause analysis to enable teams to solve complex problems
Experience with data analysis tools and principles of statistically designed experimentation
Record of owning and driving complex projects in multi‑functional working environments to completion
Demonstrated capability of developing novel integration process flows and track record of bringing it to production
Excellent project management skills, Program/Project Management experience preferred
Strong skills in collaboration, organization, and communication required
