Full Time, Day shift – 08 hours.
Overview The Manager of Labs Quality is responsible for the management, coordination and implementation of quality assurance, education, patient, client and physician satisfaction, and regulatory compliance for all laboratory sites. Responsibilities include management of proficiency testing, incident report and complaint data review, coordination of ongoing QA activities to satisfy regulatory agency requirements, staff education, development and coordination of quality assurance and training programs, and quality control.
What You Will Do
Collaborate with laboratory management team and Medical Directors to integrate and consolidate laboratory services between SHC and LPCH, maintaining or improving quality while reducing expense.
Coordinate in-service education sessions for laboratory technologists and staff, scheduling topics, arranging speakers, and maintaining records; also maintain the laboratory's California CEU accreditation.
Ensure training for compliance with all life‑safety, quality and risk management procedures, identifying and correcting potentially harmful conditions or behaviors.
Choose ongoing QA indicators and criteria for monitoring service; generate reports to track performance and quality improvement; assist Directors and Managers in developing section QA plans.
Collect and collate data, implement changes to resolve problems, support creation of QA reports for regulatory agencies, prepare annual quality assurance reports, and coordinate curriculum and training for Medical Technologist trainees.
Manage proficiency testing: select and purchase materials, track results, and ensure corrective action for discrepant results.
Oversee investigation of laboratory incident reports; recommend corrective action and resolution, draft letters, condense and summarize data, and present for review.
Resolve internal and external customer service issues; collaborate with other laboratory managers to develop, implement, and monitor changes to policies, procedures, and programs for inpatient, outpatient, and outreach services.
Serve as liaison and point of contact with physicians, clients, faculty, hospital staff, and management to identify technical and operational customer requirements, service issues, and opportunities for improvement.
Communicate information to laboratory management to support development of strategic plans improving service related to pediatric services.
Education Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in a work‑related discipline or field from an accredited college or university.
Experience Qualifications
Eight (8) years of progressively responsible and directly related work experience with preferred license.
Or fifteen (15) years of progressively responsible and directly related work experience.
Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Ability to analyze data, draw conclusions and interpret results.
Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
Ability to foster effective working relationships and build consensus.
Ability to plan, organize, develop tactical plans and set priorities.
Ability to solve problems and identify solutions.
Knowledge and understanding of the processes, methods and operations in functional area(s) of responsibility.
Knowledge of computer systems and software used in functional area.
Knowledge of local, state and federal regulatory requirements related to areas of functional responsibility.
Knowledge of quality methodologies, measurement systems, and standard operating procedures.
Licenses & Certifications
Highly preferred to have one of the following licenses: CLS, CA Limited Scientist, HLT, Pathologist Assistant (PA).
