Job Overview: AECOM is seeking an Environmental Engineer II to support our Remediation team within the Environment business line. This position is based in our Atlanta office, is field‑based (approximately 75% fieldwork, 25% office work) and is expected to begin immediately. The role involves soil, groundwater, sediment and surface water investigation and remediation, data analysis, and report preparation. Travel outside the Atlanta Metropolitan area on a regular basis is required.

Responsibilities

Utilizing various techniques to generate data from remedial or investigative field work, including soil/groundwater/vapor sampling, soil boring/monitoring well installations with a variety of drilling techniques (e.g., DPT, HSA, sonic, air rotary, mud‑rotary), operations and maintenance of remedial systems.

Performing work in accordance with agreed budgets and schedules under supervision.

Developing knowledge of job‑specific federal, state and local laws, regulations, and assigned job specifications.

Detecting problems when using standardized procedures due to sample condition or equipment difficulties.

Proposing appropriate analytical methods and techniques; assisting in providing advice and consulting services within the scope of scientific knowledge.

Interpreting and recording data, conducting analyses, and comparing findings to relevant studies and regulatory requirements.

Qualifications Minimum Qualifications

BA/BS in Environmental Engineering or related field plus 2 years of related experience or equivalent education and experience.

Valid U.S. Driver’s License; must pass AECOM’s Motor Vehicle Records Review as a condition of employment.

Must pass a drug screening as a condition of employment.

Must pass a medical screening as a condition of employment.

Preferred Qualifications

Master’s Degree in Environmental Engineering or related field.

3+ years of experience performing and leading site investigations including soil/groundwater/vapor sampling, soil boring/monitoring well installations with drilling techniques, analytical data interpretation and reporting.

Experience sampling for PFAS (per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances) in soil and water in accordance with current USEPA sampling protocols.

Experience with O&M and optimization of groundwater remediation systems.

Experience working in State and Federal Programs.

Prior Federal government security clearance is a plus.

Professional Engineer license or in process of obtaining (EIT).

Current OSHA 40‑hr Hazardous Waste Operations Training.

Current OSHA 30‑hr Construction Training.

Proficient experience with ArcGIS and/or CAD.

Familiarity with State and Federal Environmental Regulations.

Compensation Offered rate of compensation based on education, qualifications, experience and work location: $65,000 to $75,000 annually.
