The Opportunity

Support design engineering and analysis on transmission scopes.

Assist with large, extensive 345kV+ rebuild and greenfield projects, including trending technologies such as HVDC and 765kV.

Collect and assimilate data for engineering work; perform research and prepare calculations in accordance with Black & Vechat and industry standards.

Develop recommendations for equipment and materials, working within budget, schedule and quality requirements.

Provide guidance to engineering team members and support business development activities.

Act as a technical specialist, applying advanced engineering techniques and analyses with minimal supervision.

Expand knowledge and skill set in the discipline.

Key Responsibilities

Apply departmental design guides, standards, codes and Black & Veatch policies to assigned tasks.

Comply with and support the Black & Veatch quality program.

Prepare complex engineering deliverables, perform research and recommend equipment/materials.

Manage assigned budget, schedule and quality requirements.

Evaluate, select and adapt engineering techniques, procedures and criteria.

Review lower‑level engineering work or assignments.

Oversee data collection, lead smaller production teams and serve as the responsible charge for a project.

Coordinate with internal and external team members on moderately complex projects.

Assist with client focus activities, identifying key interests and driving project performance.

Provide support for business development or pursuit activities.

Serve as a technical specialist and design moderate‑scope projects within the assigned practice area.

Participate in performance management, mentoring and administrative responsibilities such as approving timesheets and expense reports.

Preferred Qualifications

Strong PLS CADD experience and proficiency.

Advanced knowledge of engineering design principles and applicable design guides.

Previous client interaction experience, building relationships for business opportunities.

Proven written and verbal communication skills.

Ability to think quickly on site and with customers.

Good listening skills, customer‑focused, team building and priority setting.

Experience designing utility-scale electrical transmission systems and structural design of transmission steel structures and foundations.

Basic structural steel and concrete experience using 3‑D analysis and design software.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in engineering from an accredited program.

Minimum of 5 years related work experience.

Ability to complete pre‑employment onboarding requirements (background check, drug screening, motor vehicle records).

Certifications Professional registration or licensure in the designated home office country, or active pursuit of such registration.

Work Environment / Physical Demands Hybrid or flexible work options may be offered after the first 90 days of employment based on manager discretion, job performance and work assignments.
