Assistant Professor of Chemistry in Physical Chemistry
Position: Assistant Professor of Chemistry in Physical Chemistry at Montana State University, Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry, College of Letters & Science.
Class: Tenure‑track, Rank: Assistant Professor.
Position Overview The Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry invites applications for a tenure‑track faculty position in either experimental or theoretical physical chemistry. The successful candidate will develop an internationally recognized, independent research program and teach undergraduate and graduate courses in chemistry.
Duties and Responsibilities
Conduct research activities in physical chemistry and establish an independent, productive, externally funded, nationally competitive research program.
Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in areas of chemistry of mutual interest.
Advise and mentor undergraduate and graduate students.
Participate in departmental and university service functions.
Collaborate with other faculty and departments to enhance scholarship and pedagogy.
Help students from all backgrounds succeed.
Required Qualifications
Ph.D. in Physical Chemistry or related field by August 1, 2026.
Potential to establish an internationally recognized, externally funded independent research program.
Potential to effectively teach and mentor undergraduate and graduate students.
Preferred Qualifications
Postdoctoral experience.
Interest and ability to establish multidisciplinary collaborative research.
Commitment to excellence in graduate and undergraduate teaching and research.
Demonstrated commitment to value and support students, faculty, and staff from all backgrounds.
Special Requirements References must be able to speak to the applicant’s research achievements and teaching potential.
