Base Pay Range
$150,000.00/yr - $250,000.00/yr
Location Washington, D.C.
Responsibilities
Lead all accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, collections, payroll, and general ledger management.
Ensure accurate and timely GAAP‑compliant financial statements, internal reporting, and month‑end and year‑end close processes.
Oversee budgeting, forecasting, long‑range planning, and cash‑flow management to support business growth.
Develop and implement internal controls, accounting policies, and standard operating procedures to improve efficiency and mitigate financial and operational risk.
Coordinate internal and external audits, ensuring compliance across multiple state jurisdictions.
Provide leadership, coaching, and professional development to accounting staff while building a high‑performing team culture.
Partner with senior leadership and department heads to deliver financial insights and strategic recommendations.
Collaborate with HR on staffing needs, performance management, and hiring decisions.
Support system enhancements, ERP optimization, and process‑improvement initiatives.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required.
CPA strongly preferred or actively pursuing certification.
Minimum 5 years of progressive accounting leadership experience; multi‑state or high‑volume environment a plus.
Strong knowledge of GAAP, internal controls, financial reporting, and audit support.
Proficiency with modern ERP/financial systems and advanced Microsoft Office skills.
Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication abilities.
Demonstrated success leading and developing accounting teams.
Ability to work cross‑functionally and communicate effectively with staff at all levels.
