Overview Scion is pioneering student living solutions and is looking for a Tax Senior to lead income and state tax compliance. The position is full‑time and based in our Chicago, IL office. This role requires strong accounting skills, fast‑paced agility, and a willingness to drive innovative solutions in corporate tax.

Responsibilities
Review tax workpapers and draft tax returns from third‑party preparers
Review quarterly and annual REIT testing workpapers and supporting documentation
Assist with data collection and review for acquisitions and dispositions
Maintain tax log of filings and payments
Coordinate receipt of tax returns with third‑party preparers and ensure timely filing
Review payment calculations for various tax filings in multiple jurisdictions
Collaborate with Accounting, FP&A, and Capital departments
Respond to investor questions and tax notices
Maintain real estate tax data in software
Manage and mentor members of the tax team
Qualifications
3+ years of accounting experience
Public accounting experience preferred
Degree in accounting, finance, or related field
CPA or CPA candidate preferred
Proficient in Microsoft Excel
Strong attention to detail
Experience with state and local taxes (sales & use, property, income/franchise) preferred
Experience with Sage fixed‑asset software
Ability to manage time and work effectively
Independent work style
