Save Job

To stop the epidemic and related health inequities by eliminating new infections, maximizing healthier outcomes for those infected and at risk, and tackling the root causes of HIV/AIDS. As a volunteer, you’ll come in on Tuesday or Wednesday evenings and provide a consistent, caring connection by phone for people living with HIV/AIDS. Each volunteer has a set of clients they develop relationships with over time. You’ll complement our case management services by helping clients work through problems and encouraging their successes. Youth on Fire (YOF) Volunteer

Engage homeless youth through relationship building, assist in creating and maintaining a safe space, and learn to work within YOF’s core philosophies and goals. You may be asked to engage in supportive, non-judgmental conversations with homeless youth around sex, sexual health, pregnancy, homelessness, substance use, HIV/AIDS and STDs. Assist in the kitchen, make trips to the food bank, help organize the space, and develop relationships with members while playing board games, pool, video games, watching movies and more. Housing Search and Advocacy Volunteer

Help Housing Search Specialists by filing, organizing, and photocopying housing applications, and by calling property managers and housing authorities to discuss client needs and housing options. Volunteers in this position also have the option of assisting with weekly housing search groups for clients of AIDS Action Committee who are currently homeless or are looking for alternative housing. You’ll work one-on-one with clients within the group to help them complete housing applications. Access: Drug User Health Program Volunteer

Access Program volunteers help provide a safe and confidential space for injection drug users to access sterile injection equipment, sharps disposal, risk reduction strategies, overdose prevention education and nasal Narcan, educational materials, and testing for HIV, HCV, and STDs. Special Events Volunteer

Sign-up to be on our mailing list for special events. When an upcoming event needs volunteers, you’ll be contacted to see if you can help out! Events include Taste of the South End, ARTcetera, AIDS Walk Boston, and more! Boomerangs offer both individual and group volunteer opportunities at our Dedham Distribution Center. While sizing, tagging, and hanging clothing you can channel your inner fashionista and build camaraderie with your fellow team members. Every garment that is prepared for sale helps to secure critical funding for client programs at the AIDS Action Committee. How you help

We couldn’t do our work without the generous support of our volunteers and interns, who contribute thousands of hours and countless talents to AIDS Action each year. About us

AIDS Action is New England’s largest provider of services to people living with HIV/AIDS and populations at risk of infection. At AIDS Action, we go beyond the basics of providing safer sex kits and HIV medications by taking a comprehensive approach to HIV prevention and care. By working face to face with the people most impacted by HIV, we’re able to truly understand their complex needs and how these needs impact their health.
