Senior Accountant
The Senior Accountant will be responsible for applying the proper application of US GAAP accounting functions necessary to support Planet Fitness's daily operational activities as well as month-end and year-end close activities. The Senior Accountant will specifically be responsible for accounting activities required to maintain the company's general ledger including, but not limited to, equipment month-end accounting, GL reconciliations, monthly accruals, allocation entries, recording of revenue and expenses, variance analysis, acquisitions, and accounting for international operations. This position is based out of our Hampton, NH office and will be expected to work our hybrid work schedule. Responsibilities
Participate in the month end accounting close process and ensure proper application of US GAAP. Prepare journal entries for entry into the general ledger system by collecting necessary data; analyze and prepare audit trail support for the journal entries. Assist with managing reporting around deferred revenue balances by applying relevant technical accounting principles and guidance. Manage and ensure accurate month-end US GAAP reporting of revenue and expenses related to the equipment segment. Assist with monthly accrual process including, but not limited to, running meetings with department heads to estimate unbilled liabilities based on purchase order reporting Prepare complex balance sheet reconciliations. Assist with review of general ledger activity for accuracy; analyzes to ensure proper expensing and capitalization of costs; research and correct discrepancies. Assist with P&L and Balance Sheet balance trend analyses; evaluate and thoroughly document variance explanations. Perform SOX controls; maintain process flowcharts and evidence of controls for areas of responsibility. Assist with quarterly and annual examinations by external auditors; compile support, fill out audit templates, and fulfill other ad hoc requests, as needed. Assist in the preparation of supporting documents for 10-Q and 10-K documents and tie-outs, as needed. Partner and collaborate with peers and cross functional business partners to drive change management, lead process improvement and alignment. Play a key role in the implementation and optimization of systems and processes to ensure accurate and efficient day-to-day processing and month-end close procedures. Assist with ad hoc analyses and special projects, as necessary. Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance with a minimum of 5+ years of relevant accounting experience Certified Public Accountant or CPA candidate strongly preferred Public accounting experience strongly preferred Solid understanding of US GAAP and SOX Compliance Proficient in Excel including advanced formulas (PIVOT Tables, VLOOKups, SUMIFs, etc.) Experience with Great Plains a plus SEC Reporting experience a plus Strong analytical and problem-solving skills Highly organized and effective at managing own deadlines Extremely detail-oriented, efficient, and organized with an exceptional ability to establish priorities and objectives Excellent presentation and communication skills along with the ability to communicate effectively across all levels of the organization Able to establish and maintain effective, collaborative work relationships with diverse individuals, internally and externally Dedicated learner with a natural curiosity for consistent growth Exhibits comfort, ease, and flexibility working in an extremely fast-paced ever-changing, deadline-driven environment Cooperative team player with an upbeat, positive, "can-do" attitude!
