District: Kildeer Countryside CCSD 96 ');document.write('Additional Information: Show/Hide General Job Description: Under the direct supervision of the building principal and assistant principal, the primary responsibility of the administrative assistant shall be to assure the smooth and efficient operation of the school office.

Qualifications:

High school diploma or equivalent required. A minimum of 1-3 years of administrative secretarial experience in a school environment and post-secondary education/training is preferred. Demonstrates excellent word processing skills (50 wpm minimum) and familiarity with computer database, spreadsheet and related software. Demonstrates excellent verbal and written communication skills, and organizational skills. Demonstrates strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work in a team environment. Demonstrates the ability to maintain confidentiality. Any equivalent combination of experience and education will be considered. Essential Functions and Responsibilities: Meets and greets all visitors to the school in a professional, courteous and helpful manner. Maintains a log of all visitors to the school and manages/ensures compliance of district security procedures. Receives and routes incoming telephone calls in an appropriate and efficient manner. Sorts and distributes all incoming mail. Checks all attendance reports for students and staff, including administrators. Organizes and disseminates student schedules (middle school) or teacher placement (elementary) and additional "back-to-school" information (i.e., bus route, opening letter, etc.). Assists the principal and assistant principal in creating the annual building budget and maintains records on all building budget accounts. Collects fees and maintains accurate and up-to-date activity accounts in accordance with district audit procedures. Orders and maintains supplies for the school as needed. Maintains all records and assists with the operation of the school lunch/milk program. Assists with orienting substitute teachers to the building. Alerts principal/assistant principal of substitute vacancies and assists in problem-solving subsequent coverage needs. Assists with online parent and staff communication blogs and any additional parent communication from the school. Types, files and performs other appropriate clerical and secretarial duties as directed by the principal and assistant principal. Maintains student records including registrations, transfers, attendance and a current student roster. Informs the principal and assistant principal of any known issues relating to the efficient operation of the school. Contacts custodial and/or maintenance staff when necessary to insure efficient and safe building operations. Interfaces with all levels of staff within the district and with local and regional governmental bodies as required and appropriate. Assists with the organization and management of arrival and dismissal procedures and operations, such as duty coverage and bussing. Performs other related duties as may be necessary and assigned by the building principal and assistant principal.

Salary and Benefits: Per KESPA Contract. Starting Salary $22.68/hour.
