About the Opportunity Job Summary The Wang Lab seeks to advance our understanding of chloroplast function using the model unicellular microalga Chlamydomonas reinhardtii. The research in Wang lab aims to provide new targets for bioengineering crops, algae, and other photosynthetic organisms to improve their photosynthesis efficiency and enhance their resistance to environmental stresses while improving yields and sustainability. The successful candidate will focus on the dynamic organization of chloroplast pathways in response to environmental stimuli (e.g., high-light stress and nutrition stress) by leveraging a collection of thousands of fluorescently tagged Chlamydomonas strains (Wang et al., 2023). The dynamic organization of chloroplast pathways enables chloroplasts to respond effectively to environmental stimuli. This involves protein movement and dynamic protein-protein interaction to maintain optimal photosynthesis, stress responses, and other metabolic processe Key Responsibilities 1) Perform research. 2) Prepare and write research papers, grant proposals, presentations, etc. 3) Train and supervise graduate students and undergraduate students. 4) Laboratory management. Qualifications The ideal postdoc candidate must have a Ph.D. in plant science, molecular biology, or biochemistry and be able to undertake substantially full-time research. The candidate will be highly motivated, have a strong academic record and research experience in characterizing protein functions in plants or microalgae, and have fluent verbal and written English language skills. One or more of the following is a plus: experience with Chlamydomonas reinhardtii or Arabidopsis thaliana, photosynthesis, high-throughput genetics, computational data analysis, and fluorescence microscopy. Applications must include a cover letter, curriculum vitae, and the names of three references with phone numbers and emails. This position will begin in the summer of 2025 for a one-year appointment, with annual renewals up to 3 years based on performance. Materials will be reviewed immediately and will continue until positions are filled. Position Type Research
