ABOUT PORTLAND WNBA: Professional women's basketball is returning to Rip City. On September 18, 2024, the Women's National Basketball Association (WNBA) awarded Portland its 15th franchise, bringing the league back to the city for the first time in over two decades. Owned and operated by the Bhathal family through RAJ Sports, the team will make its official debut in 2026 at the Moda Center. Portland is establishing itself as a hub for women's sports, driven by a passionate fan base and a rich basketball culture. THE ROLE: The Director of Business Intelligence will be pivotal in establishing the data foundation that supports our Portland WNBA business. This role involves designing and implementing a scalable analytics infrastructure, providing actionable insights to enhance fan acquisition, ticket sales, partnerships, digital performance, and more. You will collaborate across teams to promote data-driven strategies that foster growth and impact. This is a unique opportunity to build the analytics culture from the ground up. WHAT YOU'LL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR: Develop and execute the business intelligence roadmap aligned with revenue, engagement, and brand growth objectives. Build and maintain core data infrastructure, including pipelines, dashboards, and tools for accurate and timely insights across departments. Deliver high-impact reports for leadership and stakeholders, highlighting KPIs, trends, and optimization opportunities. Analyze ticket sales, marketing campaigns, fan engagement, and partnership performance. Use ticket sales data to guide pricing and sales strategies, including dynamic pricing and seat utilization. Partner with marketing to evaluate and improve campaign effectiveness through testing, segmentation, and personalization. Lead fan acquisition and engagement campaigns across social, email, digital, and mobile platforms. Collaborate with vendors and internal teams to manage CRM, analytics platforms, and MarTech tools. Serve as the primary source of data, advocating for best practices in data governance and utilization. REQUIREMENTS: 6+ years of experience in business intelligence, data analytics, or digital strategy, preferably in sports, entertainment, or consumer brands. Proven ability to develop scalable analytics systems and infrastructure. Strong skills in Excel, BI tools, data visualization, and data management systems (e.g., Tableau, Power BI, Snowflake, SQL, StellarAlgo). Experience with CRM and marketing analytics tools. Knowledge of MarTech solutions. Experience analyzing fan data, segmentation, and customer journeys. Excellent communication, presentation, and collaboration skills. Entrepreneurial mindset with a willingness to innovate and build. Passion for women's sports, storytelling through data, and advancing sports in Portland.
