Job Summary GMS Application Engineer-Markets: Provides support for Market Management Systems (MMS) applications portfolio such as Security Constrained Economic Dispatch (SCED), Day-Ahead Market (DAM), Reliability Unit Commitment (RUC), Congestion Revenue Rights (CRR), QSE Training Simulator, etc.
Actively involved in the design, development, testing, validation, and implementation of modifications and enhancements to MMS applications.
This position reports to the Supervisor/Manager of Grid & Market Solutions (GMS) Applications Engineering - Markets.
Job Duties
Understand and apply principles, theories, and concepts related to the profession and Client's culture. Exercise judgment within defined procedures and practices to determine appropriate actions. Impact is generally limited to specific assignments or projects. Respond to inquiries and/or provide assistance and guidance to lower-level workers. Additional Job Duties
Perform work according to applicable rules, regulations, and organizational policies. Participate in 24/7 Market Applications Engineering support team, troubleshoot system issues, and support on-call responsibilities. Assist in proactive enhancements, improvements, and issue remediation. Coordinate application setup and testing with QSEs, LSEs, REs as appropriate. Perform MMS model load testing periodically and update model data in real-time based on established procedures. Design and test MMS interfaces and Web & Client/Server application changes. Verify and support MMS applications during system failovers, upgrades, and patching. Support Disaster Recovery drills and business continuity procedures. Maintain, troubleshoot, and repair MMS applications and interfaces, escalating issues as needed. Provide on-the-job training or oversee work of other engineers/analysts. Act as a consultant and subject matter expert in projects affecting MMS environments. Participate in multifunctional teams for input, comments, and support. Represent the team at interdepartmental and stakeholder meetings. Mentor less experienced engineers/analysts. Work independently on assignments and projects. Participate in studies and develop tools, processes, and procedures to enhance system reliability and efficiency. Collaborate with other departments to implement system changes as needed. Preferred Work Experience
Experience with Hitachi ABB or other MMS vendor applications. Experience with Data Historians such as OSIsoft PI. Experience with programming languages like FORTRAN, C, C++, Java, Perl. Experience with PL/SQL. Experience & Education
Minimum 5 years of relevant job-related experience. Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related field (Required). Master's Degree in the same fields (Preferred). Equivalent education and experience may be considered.
