Role Summary We are seeking a Principal for the Architecture and Urbanism (A&U) division of the Global Business Area Places. This role reports to the Business Unit Director, U.S. West and Mexico. The Principal will collaborate with other leaders to grow the Healthcare practice in line with GAU Division strategy and financial targets, with a focus on operational efficiency and workforce optimization.
Responsibilities
Lead ultimate accountability for performance metrics (utilization, billability, contribution, debtors) and service quality delivery within the team; develop and oversee strategy implementation to ensure service excellence and profitable growth.
Lead, motivate and develop a diverse team of senior specialists through hiring, goal setting and performance reviews to ensure skill development and program delivery.
Develop and implement the business plan and communicate expectations, culture and context to the team.
Identify and target clients by delivering service excellence to grow organic revenue.
Build strong relationships and create successful teams.
Develop enduring client relationships to understand business needs and improve retention and revenue growth.
Coach and mentor studio managers and service managers to set projects up for success with appropriate governance.
Identify talent, promote career development and direct individuals to appropriate development programs.
Make decisions on resource utilization, maintaining unit composition and structure for optimization.
Identify and manage risks in service delivery, ensuring compliance with governance processes.
Maintain up-to-date knowledge of clients and market trends to spot opportunities.
Foster cooperation within Arcadis to maximize cross‑sell opportunities.
Implement the GAU Division strategy.
Qualifications & Experience
Bachelor’s degree or postgraduate qualification and/or fellowship in an appropriate professional institution.
Registered Architect or equivalent preferred.
Substantial experience (18+ years) in a discipline, including 10+ years’ experience at an architecture consultancy.
Experience leading and implementing complex business change solutions.
Experience managing business relationships at the executive level.
Experience managing teams across geographies.
Significant experience on large‑scale, highly complex projects.

The salary range for this position is $94,000 – $190,000, with actual salaries based on experience, education, budget, internal equity, project and location.
