Clinical Nurse – Acute/Cardiac
Full-time / 36-hour weekly / Rotating Shift – Silver Spring, Maryland.

Unit Description This 30‑bed unit provides care to patients with primary cardiac diagnoses and medical patients requiring cardiac telemetry monitoring. 4 South Acute/Cardiac is staffed by registered nurses, certified nursing assistants, health unit coordinators, and monitor technicians. Staff receive support from clinical educators and advanced practice nurses.
Responsibilities
Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to support patient‑centered continuum of care.
Communicate variances from patient goals and advocate on behalf of the patient.
Maintain accurate and timely healthcare records.
Administer medications, provide education, and monitor for efficacy and side effects.
Assess, monitor, report, and record patient condition and pertinent changes.
Design, implement, and evaluate patient nursing care plans with healthcare team.
Educate patients and families throughout stay and in preparation for discharge.
Required
Graduation from an accredited nursing program (basic professional nursing degree – must obtain a BSN within a specified timeframe).
Current licensure by the Maryland State Board of Nursing or Compact State as a Registered Nurse.
BLS certification (issued through the American Heart Association).
Preferred
BSN or MSN preferred.
At least one year of nursing experience in an acute care setting.
Minimum Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required
Current knowledge of nursing skills and practice.
Computer and audiovisual skills (internet, email, word processing).
Ability to retrieve and interpret data.
Effective reading, speaking, writing, composing and comprehending English.
Effective eye and hand coordination.
Ability to analyze and synthesize information within a short period of time.
Effective problem‑solving skills.
Ability to multi‑task, organize and prioritize.
Ability to work well with individuals and groups.
Pay Range $38.92–$55.68 per hour – based on experience, skills and education. Exempt positions under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) will be paid within the base salary equivalent of the stated hourly rates. Pay range may vary within the stated range based on location.
