Responsibilities The Physical Therapist - Journey Traveler must be able to travel nationwide for 13‑week assignments. This position provides flexibility to travel the country and work in various settings.

On assignment the Physical Therapist assesses the need for, develops, and delivers physical therapy programs to facilitate rehabilitation. The Physical Therapist identifies needs and makes referrals to other disciplines to address comprehensive patient needs. They implement individualized therapy programs designed to restore, reinforce, and enhance performance.

They instruct, educate, and train patients and caregivers in essential skills and functions promoting independence and productivity, diminishing or correcting pathology. The PT directs activities to promote and maintain health, supervises Physical Therapy Assistants, temporary licensees, students, and support personnel in accordance with state licensure requirements.

Responsible for effective and efficient delivery of rehab services with adherence to established plans of care, schedules, and timely documentation. Attends and contributes to patient care, staffing conferences, and related meetings. Makes referrals to other disciplines and agencies, consults with rehabilitation team, and adapts program and plan of care as needed.

Promotes a safe environment and enforces elimination of fire and safety hazards, orders supplies and equipment as necessary, and maintains and reports equipment needs.

Provides patient‑centered care ensuring patients and families receive the highest quality service in a caring and compassionate atmosphere recognizing individual needs and rights.

Screen, examine, and evaluate patients, including history, systems review, and application of appropriate tests and measures, synthesizing information and interpreting findings to establish diagnosis, identify impairments, determine predicted level of improvement, time required, precautions, and design plan of care.

Develops appropriate treatment goals and methods in collaboration with patient and caregivers, implements treatment plan, completes documentation and records related services.

Therapeutic exercise including aerobic capacity conditioning, balance coordination, agility training, body mechanics and postural stabilization, flexibility exercises, gait and locomotion training, neuromotor development training, relaxation, strength, power, and endurance training.

Functional training.

Manual therapy.

Airway clearance techniques.

Integumentary repair and protection.

Use of electrotherapeutic, physical agent and mechanical modalities.

Design, fabricates, fits and/or applies adaptive devices, trains patients in their use including orthotics and prosthetics.

Selects appropriate activities suited to individual physical and mental capacity, intelligence level, and interests. Instructs patients in mobility activities and evaluates progress, attitudes, and behavior related to rehabilitative potential. Performs routine reexamination to modify or progress plan of treatment and performs other related duties as required.

Qualifications

Valid Physical Therapy license in the state(s) of practice, or proof of license and eligibility.

Master's degree in Physical Therapy, or Master's degree in a Physical Therapy related field plus Bachelor's degree in Physical Therapy.

Bachelor's degree in Physical Therapy plus 5 years of progressively responsible PT experience.

Availability to travel and temporarily reside in locations outside primary home.

Physical Therapy degree earned outside the U.S. must be evaluated as U.S. equivalent to a Physical Therapy degree.

Posted Salary Range USD $55.00 – $70.00 per hour.
