Job Description Seeking a Senior Platform Engineer / Linux with well‑rounded Linux Infrastructure Engineering expertise to join an agile product team. The ideal candidate will have experience in both traditional infrastructure design; provisioning of platform, storage, and networking resources for existing on‑premise infrastructure hardware that ideally also has experience in emerging DevOps/DevSecOps & Modernized technologies. The Principal Platform Engineer would be engaged in the design and implementation of system updates and upgrades with focus on Linux Server / Linux OS expertise and will interface both with the Program's Sr. Management and the Customer for Technical Exchange Meetings (TEMs) as required.
The Senior Platform Engineer / Linux would be involved with development, implementation of traditional compute/network/storage systems and related deployments, as well as support improving the program platform's overarching design through new emerging technologies. This includes existing operating systems and existing server hardware designs, as well as supporting the design and development of new modernized system architectures.
Note: This position is based in Aurora, CO and work will be performed on site, requiring occasional travel to the customer site for upgrade and implementation activities as necessary.
Responsibilities
You will leverage company and industry best practices and capabilities to develop and communicate implementation, of infrastructure solutions
You will maintain existing systems through Linux Based Tools and manage the COTS stack on the system to support program needs
You will assist with integration of the selected platform provisioning tool such as VMWare
You will ensure that the COTS stack and versioning is consistent across the platform; and will work with the team to make updates as necessary
You will travel to customer sites to assist in system updates and deliveries when necessary
Required Skills & Qualifications
BS/BA Degree in Science, Technology Engineering Math (STEM) in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Technology or Physics and 5+ years of related work experience
Current TS/SCI CI Poly issued security clearance is required day 1. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance
Experience with Agile Development Methodologies (e.g. scrum, SAFe)
Experience with VMware
Experience with programming languages (e.g. Python, Java, Ruby, Bash, C++, C#, Go)
Qualifications We Prefer
Experience with Linux LDAP for creating Linux based accounts and managing roles and permissions
Experience with Linux Bash scripting for task automation and management of existing scripts
Experience with modernization technologies such as Chef, Ansible, Kubernetes, Docker, Rancher etc
Experience with System Hardening
Experience with AWS technologies
Experience with Cisco IOS / Fiber Switch Familiarity Experience with Cisco Server Hardware / and Firewall implementation
Current Security Plus certification or obtain within 90 days of onboarding
