We are recruiting for one PGY-1 position as part of the PGY-1/2 combined Medication Use Safety and Policy residency and two PGY-1 positions as part of the Health System Pharmacist Administration and Leadership Residency.

Northwestern Memorial Hospital offers combined PGY-1&2 programs in Medication Use Safety and Policy (MUSP) and Health System Pharmacy Administration and Leadership (HSPAL) with a Masters in Healthcare Administration. The rotation and entrance requirements for the MUSP and HSPAL PGY-1s will be the same as the traditional NMH PGY-1 program but includes more specialty focused electives. This will allow the resident to build their clinical skills and competencies through an exceptional PGY1 experience while preparing them for their PGY-2. Please refer to the PGY-1 Pharmacy Practice Residency information for full details on the PGY1 program requirements. A summary of each program be found below. Please see our website for a full description of both programs. The MUSP and HSPAL PPS sessions are informal opportunities to understand the program, meet the program's leadership, residents, and ask questions. These are strictly informational sessions for the benefit of the candidate and are an unscored portion of our recruitment process.

PGY-1&2 Medication Use Safety and Policy Residency (1 position) The PGY-2 year of the Northwestern Memorial Hospital combined PGY-1/2 Medication-Use Safety and Policy (MUSP) pharmacy residency program is designed to cultivate advanced expertise in drug information practice, local and system-level formulary management, medication safety, policy development, and system-level pharmacy leadership. Residents engage in a variety of focused rotations including advanced drug information, medication safety and quality, formulary management, pharmacy operations, and informatics while also allowing sufficient flexibility to adapt to the individual needs of the resident through elective rotations. Longitudinal experiences include medication-use policy, safety, research, and pharmacy practice, providing residents an immersive experience preparing them to enter a variety of positions related to MUSP practice upon graduation.

Please request an interview through PPS to meet with the MUSP teams. For questions, please reach out to Dr. Brittany Karas (brittany.lee@nm.org).

PGY-1&2 Health System Pharmacy Administration and Leadership Residency with Masters (2 positions) The combined PGY-1/PGY-2 health-system pharmacy administration and leadership program encompasses a 24-month experience that combines rotational and longitudinal experience in pharmacy practice, management, and administration. This program also includes participation in the ASHP Foundation Pharmacy Leadership Academy throughout the PGY-2 year or the Northwestern University Master's in Healthcare Administration program throughout both years.

During the PGY-2 year, the resident will have the opportunity to learn from multiple departmental and system leaders within Northwestern Medicine and will get to network with pharmacy leaders across the country through experiences such as elective rotations and the professional society committee participation. The PGY-2 resident will also develop interpersonal leadership skills by overseeing employees during the PGY-2 and assuming leadership roles within the residency class.

Please sign up for HSPAL informal PPS through the PPS website or by filling out this form. For questions, please reach out to our current PGY-2, Dr. Khushali Sarnot (khushali.sarnot@nm.org).
