UNDERSTANDING
The Senior Quality Assurance Specialist is a core member of the Quality Assurance team. This person monitors and reports quality metrics. By collaborating with operational and support departments they identify trends and root causes to drive improvements that support the quality management system. As a trusted member of the quality team they recommend, own, and drive performance improvements within the Quality Assurance department and beyond. They challenge themselves using the core values of ACG. They require creativity from themselves, drive a “nothing is impossible” attitude, and view issues as direct challenges to better themselves.

RESPONSIBILITIES
Evaluate and identify opportunities for improving practices and procedures using FDA regulations and third-party certification requirements as a guide.
Assist the Quality Assurance Manager in maintaining 3rd party certifications. Develop knowledge of internal programs and manage compliance schedule.
Assist in efforts to educate and train employees on food safety and quality topics.
Investigate and analyze incidents to identify trends as related to the Quality Management System.
Initiate corrective actions and communicate findings to the leadership team.
Lead verification and validation activities for FDA and Global Food Safety Initiative compliance.
Implement continuous improvement through utilization of Food Safety Plans, Sanitation Standard Operating Procedures (SSOP), HACCP, allergen control, and consumer complaint reduction.
Under moderate supervision, act as QA representative on multi-functional project teams or non-routine assignments.

WORKING RELATIONSHIP
Reports to the Quality Assurance Manager.
Communicates regularly and has a strong relationship with team members in multiple departments.
Communicates and meets periodically with other departmental leaders.
QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED
Working knowledge of FDA 21 CFR Part 117 regulations, HACCP, and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP).
Strong computer, document management skills and attention to detail
Ability to effectively communicate in verbal and written form
Strong problem solving/trouble shooting skills
Strong auditing / assessment skills
Proficiency in computer programs / software such as Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel, Access, and Power Point.
A 4-year bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience
1-5 years of related experience is preferred
HACCP and PCQI certification preferred
Experience complying with NSF and GFSI standards preferred
Great verbal, written, and presentation communication skills
EDUCATION
High school diploma or equivalent
