Fiscal Support Specialist Examination Schedule Qualified candidates will be notified of the testing date five days prior to the examination.

Examination:

Written Exam (Weight 100%):

Will be conducted for the purpose of assessing the applicant's knowledge of applicable local, state, and federal laws, rules, and regulations; basic accounting principles; processes and procedures in assigned area of responsibility; bookkeeping principles; standard office equipment and procedures; data entry techniques; customer service principles; filing techniques, and other relevant topics.

Applicants must attain at least a 70% score on the examination.

The Human Resources Division may solely conduct an appraisal of application materials should there be an insufficient number of candidates to warrant a written examination.

Admittance to each phase of the examination will require a government issued photograph identification. Applicants who are unable to present proper identification must make arrangements with the Human Resources Division prior to the test date.

A background check may be conducted for this classification.

Following an offer of employment, you may be required to submit to post‑offer medical and drug screening tests at County expense.

This examination will establish an eligible list from which permanent and temporary appointments will be made as needed. Successful candidates will remain on the eligible list for a period of twelve months unless specified otherwise by the Civil Service Commission.

Minimum Qualifications / Employment Standards High School Diploma, or GED and two years of fiscal support, bookkeeping, accounting support or experience related to the area of assignment; or, one year equivalent to a Fiscal Support Technician in the Kern County classification system; or, an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to obtain the knowledge and skill to successfully perform the essential duties of the job.

Additional Requirements Applicants must submit a Bilingual Certificate (English/Spanish) before the final filing deadline, issued by the Kern County Human Resources Division or its authorized agent, Bakersfield College.

Employees who occupy positions designated as bilingual are paid dependent upon the required level of proficiency.
