Job Description Inova Mt. Vernon Hospital is seeking a full‑time Speech Pathologist to join our wonderful team. The schedule is Sunday through Thursday. We maintain a community hospital feel within the leading healthcare system in the region, offering strong mentorship designed to advance team members’ clinical practice, specialized clinics, and cutting‑edge equipment. Preferred candidates will have experience working in acute care. Responsibilities
Documents evaluation results clearly and completely, including all essential elements according to department policy.
Completes daily progress notes that reflect patients’ responses to treatment, actual performance, assessment of treatment plans, and discharge needs. Documents discharge notes summarizing the course of treatment, progress toward goals, and recommendations for follow‑up.
Contacts families, physicians, or other healthcare team members to facilitate effective treatment plans. Provides educational materials tailored to patients’ level of understanding and motivation.
Includes families and caregivers in education and training as appropriate.
Demonstrates collaboration and communication with team members, being open to feedback. Gives appropriate instruction and supervision to assistive personnel consistent with program policies.
Maintains productivity standards, efficiently uses non‑billable time, and completes routine administrative responsibilities within established timeframes.
Contributes to educational efforts of the department, including in‑services, students, CPR, new‑hire orientation, and quality improvement.
Minimum Requirements
Certification – Basic Life Support upon start
Licensure – Speech Language Pathologist VA License
Experience – Not required, 1 year preferred in acute care
Education – Master’s Degree in Speech Pathology or Communication Sciences & Disorders accredited by ASHA
Preferred Experience
A year working in an acute care setting
